Mcofs Climbing Wall Specifications
THE MOUNTAINEERING COUNCIL OF SCOTLAND The Old Granary West Mill Street Perth PH1 5QP Tel: 01738 493 942 Website: www.mcofs.org.uk SCOTTISH CLIMBING WALLS: Appendix 3 Climbing Wall Facilities: Specifications 1. Climbing Wall Definitions 1.1 Type of Wall The MCofS recognises the need to develop the following types of climbing wall structure in Scotland. These can be combined together at a suitably sized site or developed as separate facilities (e.g. a dedicated bouldering venue). All walls should ideally be situated in a dedicated space or room so as not to clash with other sporting activities. They require unlimited access throughout the day / week (weekends and evenings till late are the most heavily used times). It is recommended that the type of wall design is specific to the requirements and that it is not possible to utilise one wall for all climbing disciplines (e.g. a lead wall cannot be used simultaneously for bouldering). For details of the design, development and management of walls the MCofS supports the recommendations in the “Climbing Walls Manual” (3rd Edition, 2008). 1.1.1. Bouldering walls General training walls with a duel function of allowing for the pursuit of physical excellence, as well as offering a relatively safe ‘solo’ climbing experience which is fun and perfect for a grass-roots introduction to climbing. There are two styles: indoor venues and outdoor venues to cater for the general public as a park or playground facility (Boulder Parks). Dedicated bouldering venues are particularly successful in urban areas* where local access to natural crags offering this style of climbing is not available. -

2. the Climbing Gym Industry and Oslo Klatresenter As
Norwegian School of Economics Bergen, Spring 2021 Valuation of Oslo Klatresenter AS A fundamental analysis of a Norwegian climbing gym company Kristoffer Arne Adolfsen Supervisor: Tommy Stamland Master thesis, Economics and Business Administration, Financial Economics NORWEGIAN SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS This thesis was written as a part of the Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration at NHH. Please note that neither the institution nor the examiners are responsible − through the approval of this thesis − for the theories and methods used, or results and conclusions drawn in this work. 2 Abstract The main goal of this master thesis is to estimate the intrinsic value of one share in Oslo Klatresenter AS as of the 2nd of May 2021. The fundamental valuation technique of adjusted present value was selected as the preferred valuation method. In addition, a relative valuation was performed to supplement the primary fundamental valuation. This thesis found that the climbing gym market in Oslo is likely to enjoy a significant growth rate in the coming years, with a forecasted compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in sales volume of 6,76% from 2019 to 2033. From there, the market growth rate is assumed to have reached a steady-state of 3,50%. The period, however, starts with a reduced market size in 2020 and an expected low growth rate from 2020 to 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on this and an assumed new competing climbing gym opening at the beginning of 2026, OKS AS revenue is forecasted to grow with a CAGR of 4,60% from 2019 to 2033. -
Geocaching 101
Geocaching 101 Geocaching is an activity that will get you and your family outside and provide countless hours of adventure and enjoyment—in your local community, in Connecticut, throughout the United States, and even worldwide! If you still have questions after participating in our program and reviewing this information, we suggest you go to www.geocaching.com and search their Help Center. Membership on the geocaching site is free to all and offers plenty of opportunities to get you started on a lifetime hobby. What is geocaching? Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates for latitude and longitude and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. What is the meaning of the word “geocaching?” “Geocaching” refers to GEO for geography, and to CACHING, the process of hiding a cache. The term “cache” is used in hiking/camping as a hiding place for concealing and preserving provisions. Where are geocaches located? Geocaches can be found all over the world. It is common for geocachers to hide caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest or skill of the cache owner. These locations can be quite diverse. They may be at your local park, at the end of a long hike, underwater or on the side of a city street. What does a geocache look like? Geocaches vary greatly in size and appearance. You will see everything from large, clear plastic containers to film canisters to a fake rock with a secret compartment. -
Film, Television and Video Productions Featuring Brass Bands
Film, Television and Video productions featuring brass bands Gavin Holman, October 2019 Over the years the brass bands in the UK, and elsewhere, have appeared numerous times on screen, whether in feature films or on television programmes. In most cases they are small appearances fulfilling the role of a “local” band in the background or supporting a musical event in the plot of the drama. At other times band have a more central role in the production, featuring in a documentary or being a major part of the activity (e.g. Brassed Off, or the few situation comedies with bands as their main topic). Bands have been used to provide music in various long-running television programmes, an example is the 40 or more appearances of Chalk Farm Salvation Army Band on the Christmas Blue Peter shows on BBC1. Bands have taken part in game shows, provided the backdrop for and focus of various commercial advertisements, played bands of the past in historical dramas, and more. This listing of 450 entries is a second attempt to document these appearances on the large and small screen – an original list had been part of the original Brass Band Bibliography in the IBEW, but was dropped in the early 2000s. Some overseas bands are included. Where the details of the broadcast can be determined (or remembered) these have been listed, but in some cases all that is known is that a particular band appeared on a certain show at some point in time - a little vague to say the least, but I hope that we can add detail in future as more information comes to light. -

NEED FOR VERTICAL SPEED Climbing will make its Olympic debut this summer, complete with a version of the sport that requires speed and oozes adrenaline—but lacks one thing climbers love. BY JOHN BURGMAN YOU MAY have been rock climbing before, but you’ve never done it the way Nathaniel Coleman is doing it right now at the Momentum Indoor Climbing gym in Salt Lake City. Coleman isn’t climb- ing so much as Spider-Manning his way up a 15-meter wall, all instinct and quick reflexes, just a few feet from the top in under six seconds. That’s where he coils his legs and leaps (yes, really), smacking the buzzer before falling backward to swing from his safety harness. Electric, right? Except Coleman, one of the United States’ finest competitive climbers, can’t stand it. “Speed PHOTOGRAPHS BY PETER BOHLER MEN’S HEALTH / April 2020 17 BODY LICENSE TO SKILL! Read this before you use this guide. This guide is a compilation of often-unverified information gathered from many different climbers. The author(s) cannot assure the accuracy of any of the information in this guide, including the route descriptions and the difficulty ratings. These may be incorrect or misleading as it is impossible for any one author to climb all the routes and confirm all the information. Also, ratings are subjective and depend on the physical characteristics such as height, experience, technical ability, confidence and physical fitness of the climber who supplied the ratings. Therefore, be warned that you must exercise your own judgement with regard to the route location, description, difficulty and your ability to safely protect yourself from the risks of rock climbing. Examples of these risks are: falling due to technical difficulty or holds breaking off, falling rock, climbing equipment dropped by other climbers, equipment failure and failure of protection including fixed protection such as bolts. You should not depend on any information gleaned from this guide for your personal safety. Your safety depends on your own experience, equipment and climbing skill. If you have any doubt as to your ability to safely attempt any route described in this guide, do not attempt it.
