THE CAMPUS POLICE CHIEF The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff have always been paramount at MassArt. As a small college, MassArt has an opportunity to provide all members of its community with a secure environment in which to learn, live, and work. It has become increasingly evident that issues on college campuses are more complex today than they have ever been. Therefore, the demand for professional, highly trained, Campus Police Officers and Institutional Security Officers, has increased. The Campus Police have the sworn duty to directly apply and execute the law, rules, and regulations fairly and objectively for the benefit of the entire college community. Institutional Security Officers help support the entire department and are our front line for providing excellent customer service while assisting with keeping the campus secure. We are committed to providing community-oriented professional police services, protecting constitutional rights, preserving peace, reducing fear, promoting teamwork, and making continuous improvements to the MassArt community. Maintaining a safe environment on our campus requires the continuing support of all members of the MassArt community. We encourage you to read this publication carefully and to use the information to help foster a safe environment for yourself and others at MassArt. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Dwayne Farley Campus Police Chief/Director of Public Safety www.massart.edu Annual Security and Fire Safety Report December 2020 4 MISSION The Massachusetts College of Art and Design Public Safety Department is committed to providing a safe and secure environment that builds partnerships and empowers the MassArt Community to work collectively in reducing crime and the fear of crime while improving the quality
