The birth of Mary Wood Long was registered 1863/Q2 Keynsham, mother’s maiden name: Wood. From the burial register: Mary Wood Long, aged 14 days, of Newton St Loe, was buried on 5 Jun 1863. The death of Joseph Long, aged 62, was registered 1869/Q4 Keynsham. From the National Probate Calendar 1870: 13 January. The Will of Joseph Long late of the Parish of Newton St. Loe in the County of Somerset Yeoman deceased who died 5 November 1869 at Newton St. Loe aforesaid was proved at Bristol by the oaths of James Long of the Parish of Keynsham in the County aforesaid Gentleman the Brother and Charles Harris Wood of Keynsham aforesaid Gentleman the Executors. Effects under £4,000. In the 1891 census at Langton House, Keynsham: Leah S Long, aged 70, widow, living on own means, born at Brislington (Som), a servant and a nurse. In Pigot’s Somerset Directory 1842 in the section for Bath: Housman Mrs. Catherine, 14 Sydney place The death of Christopher Deavin, aged 71, was registered 1850/Q3 Bath. In the PCC will written in 1840 he describes himself as a servant of Sydney Place and leaves everything to his wife Martha. In the 1851 census at 14 Sydney Place, Bath: Catherine Houseman, aged 79, widow, fundholder, born at Liverpool, Martha Beaven, aged 71, widow, housekeeper, born at Newbury, and three other servants. The death of Martha Deavin, aged 76, was registered 1852/Q4 Bath. The death of Catherine Houseman, aged 85, was registered 1855/Q1 Bath. From the Bath Chronicle of Thu 22 Feb 1855 p3: Feb. 19, at her residence, in Sydney Place, at a very advanced age, Mrs. Housman, an old and respected inhabitant of this city, whose loss will be sincerely regretted by the neighbouring poor. The Bath Chronicle of Thu 22 Mar 1855 p2 had an advertisement for the sale by auction of her effects. Personal Estate under £3,000. The death of Sophia Newman, aged 80, was registered 1900/Q2 Keynsham.
