Harold Sanditen Harold was born in Oklahoma – you know, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain, Oklahoma – and has lived in London since 1987. In 2007, after 20 years as a UK based theatre producer, Harold decided to move on from producing and do something he’d always wanted to do – give singing/cabaret performance a try and see if he was any good at it! In September, 2008 he performed his first solo cabaret show, The Secret of Life, at The Duplex in New York. He figured if he was going to fail, it shouldn’t be on his home turf. The show was successful enough for Harold to bring it home to London, where he performed it in November, 2008 at Pizza on the Park. Harold’s second show, Love Exposed, was performed in London at Pizza on the Park as well as in New York at Don’t Tell Mama in 2009 and 2010. His third show, Thoughts ‘Round Midnight, was premiered in London at The Pheasantry in September 2010 and then in New York at Don’t Tell Mama in October. He reprised it at The Pheasantry in January 2011 prior to Chicago, New York and Hornchurch, Essex. Thoughts ‘Round Midnight returned to North America in June, 2011, where Harold made his Toronto, Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs debuts. Thoughts ‘Round Midnight returned to The Pheasantry in October, 2011 and January, 2012. Shades of Blue, Harold’s fourth show, premiered in London at The Pheasantry in March 2012 and returned several times, as well as playing in New York at Don’t Tell Mama and The Metropolitan Room, in London at the Crazy Coqs, and at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in Tulsa.

Introduction to Ecovenue Ecovenue Is a Signifi Cant Theatre-Specifi C Environmental Project Being Run by the Theatres Trust
Introduction to Ecovenue Ecovenue is a signifi cant theatre-specifi c environmental project being run by The Theatres Trust. It aims to improve the environmental performance of forty-eight London theatres and raise awareness of how to make theatres greener. Ecovenue is promoting the sustainability of theatres and the reduction of carbon emissions through the provision of free theatre-specifi c, environmental advice. The project started in 2009 and runs until 2012. Forty-eight venues each undergo an Environmental Audit, and receive a Display Energy Certifi cate (DEC) and Advisory Report. They track their energy use through SMEasure. Each venue receives a second DEC a year after their fi rst to measure progress. Ecovenue includes a ‘DEC Pool’ of performing arts venues across the UK that have obtained DECs. The DEC Pool helps us to evaluate the project and share best practice and information, establish meaningful benchmarks, and provide a better understanding of energy use of theatres. Any theatre can join the DEC Pool. The Trust’s Theatres Magazine provides quarterly reports on the participants and the work of the Ecovenue project. The Theatres Trust Ecovenue project receives fi nancial support from the European Regional Development Fund. Sep 7, 2016 THE GREAT DIVIDE by Alix Sobler Finborough Theatre 4th - 20th September 2016 ‘Seamless performances and thought-provoking writing’ ★★★★ Based on real events in New York, 1911 “The Great Divide” is a cleverly constructed hard-hitting drama that centres on the struggles of a group of young female Triangle Shirtwaist Factory workers fighting for better working conditions and unionisation. Rosa, a Jewish immigrant, tells the story of her life and role in a general strike. Although the strike is successful, the workers concerns about Health & Safety are not addressed and the ending is inevitable – 146 workers are killed in a subsequent fire. Lauded playwright Alix Sobler skilfully weaves human stories into the politics of the play and whilst maintaining its historical context, “The Great Divide” manages to make a powerful statement about the lack of workers’ rights today. “We tell the story over and over in the hopes that they will learn,” says Rosa of future generations, but we still have sweatshops, appalling conditions for immigrant workers and horrific factory accidents that are preventable. Sobler gives a voice to the nameless women who lost their lives that day and through Rosa we get to know the people behind the tragedy that shaped workplace reform in America. “The point is you were a person Rosa and that is why they’ll care,” assures her friend when Rosa doubts that we, the audience, are interested in her plight. She believes that she and her friends are lost in history and rather than changing the world, the lessons of their deaths go unheeded.

We’ve had a thrilling year since in which we’ve hosted dozens of artists in Northampton to create original work in partnership with Perfect Pitch, China Plate, Musical Theatre Network, Mercury Musical Developments, Scottish Opera and Improbable. (Funded by a Central Research Bursary) Supervisors: Dr. Stephen Farrier and Dr. Experience Bryon Brief synopsis of research: hoo:ha is the development of a practice that defines, illuminates, and exploits a dissonance between laughter and desire, funniness and sexiness, and amusement and seduction in order to 1. create comic strategies at the expense of said dissonance, and 2. challenge heteronormative and patriarchal strands of humour theory. The research utilizes practice as research (PaR) methodology. PARK AVENUE ARMORY ANNOUNCES FULL CASTING FOR MACBETH Directed by Rob Ashford and Kenneth Branagh, Site-Specific Staging Begins Performances May 31, 2014 Commissioned and produced by Park Avenue Armory and Manchester International Festival New York, NY – May 12, 2014 – Park Avenue Armory announced today full casting for the U.S. premiere of Rob Ashford and Kenneth Branagh’s staging of Macbeth, May 31-June 22, 2014. The production transforms the Armory and its 55,000-square-foot drill hall, taking advantage of the building’s unique spaces and military history to bring to life one of Shakespeare’s most powerful tragedies in an intensely physical, fast-paced production that places the audience directly on the frontlines of battle. The audience will be drawn into the blood, sweat, and elements of nature as the action unfurls across a traverse stage, with heaven beckoning at one end and hell looming at the other. Kenneth Branagh is joined by Alex Kingston as the once great leader and his adored wife—marking the New York stage debuts for both actors. The critically acclaimed production was originally mounted in Manchester in July 2013, and is being re-imagined for the Armory’s dramatic spaces.
