SCHOLARSHIP BOOK ELLENSBURG HIGH SCHOOL 2018-2019 CAUTION: This book contains information on scholarships that we knew of that were offered LAST school year (2017-18). Since the future cannot be predicted, this guide will hopefully give you an idea of when scholarships were offered last year, so that you can be looking for them this year. ANTIOCH UNIVERSITY Various scholarships with various deadlines. Please visit their website at: http://www.antiochseattle.edu/futurestudents/aid/scholarships_aus.html BASTYR UNIVERSITY Bastyr University Scholarships for all incoming undergraduate students are a combination of one-time awards, based on need and lower-division academic performance, designed to bridge the cost-resource gap. Students do not need to submit an application to be considered. The awards range from $500 to $3,000, which will be credited to the recipient's tuition during the student's first three quarters. MARTIN’S UNIVERSITY Saint Martin’s will reward your investment of hard work in your schooling with competitive Academic Merit Scholarships. You may automatically qualify for the following scholarships based only on your cumulative grade point average and your combined SAT or ACT test scores. These scholarship awards are not based on financial need. They are renewed on an annual basis for eight semesters of enrollment if you maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA). Decisions are mailed the first week of March (with complete financial aid packages following in late March). This includes National Merit awards, UW President’s Scholars, UW Undergraduate Scholars, and UW Achievement Awards. In addition, the UW Diversity Scholar Awards are awarded to high achieving under-represented students entering as freshman. The majority of these scholarships are renewable for three additional years of full-time undergraduate study. Prospective students who submit admission applications by January 15 are given priority consideration for these scholarships. Students are advised to inform Student Financial Services of scholarship eligibility and be prepared to document eligibility as required. Entering freshmen who do not attend WWU all three quarters of their freshman year forfeit a portion of their scholarships. If you apply for admission and submit your academic scholarship application by January 31, you are automatically considered for all four of these awards. Students who are residents of WICHE states may enroll at participating two- and four-year college programs outside of their home state at a reduced tuition rate. WICHE states include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming. http://wue.wiche.edu/ WESTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY Western Washington University funded scholarships are available for freshman and transfer students. Receipt of an academic scholarship is automatic upon admittance as a full-time matriculated day student for the school year. If a student retakes the SAT or ACT standardized tests after being admitted and, as a result, increases their test score, the student should notify the admissions office. Students can submit new test scores or an increase in a cumulative GPA to the admissions office until March 1. Speak out and write an essay about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse, how you dealt with it, what you learned from it, and what was right or wrong (in your opinion) about the way it was handled. 650-800 words. Scholarship does not have a deadline. All essays are considered, all year round. It is available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors in college. This scholarship is only open to students who graduated from high schools within Kittitas county.
