CBS All Access Takes 'The Stand' to NYCC 2020 CBS All Access Takes 'The Stand' to NYCC 2020 10.09.2020 CBS All Access, with help from series star Whoopi Goldberg, on Friday unveiled the official trailer and key art for its upcoming event series, The Stand, based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King. Goldberg, who plays 108-year-old oracle Mother Abigail in the series, was joined on a New York Comic Con virtual panel by cast members James Marsden, Greg Kinnear, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard and Owen Teague, as well as executive producers Benjamin Cavell and Taylor Elmore. Vanity Fair's Anthony Breznican moderated the session. The nine-episode limited series premieres Thursday, Dec. 17, with new episodes dropping weekly on CBS All Access. The Stand is King's epic tale of good versus evil in a post-Armageddon world, with a handful of survivors in Colorado realizing it is their task to take on the Dark Man, also known as Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård), whose headquarters of evil are based in Las Vegas. The event series will conclude with a new coda written especially for the series by King. Besides Goldberg and Skarsgård, the series features Marsden as Stu Redman, Young as Frannie Goldsmith, Adepo as Larry Underwood, Heard as Nadine Cross, Teague as Harold Lauder, Henry Zaga as Nick Andros, Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen, Irene Bedard as Ray Bretner, Nat Wolff as Lloyd Henreid, Eion Bailey as Weizak, Heather Graham as Rita Blakemoor, Katherine McNamara as Julie Lawry, Fiona Dourif as Ratwoman, Natalie Martinez as Dayna Jurgens, Hamish Linklater as Dr. Jim Ellis, Daniel Sunjata as Cobb and Kinnear as Glen Bateman. The series is produced by CBS Studios. Cavell serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Elmore, Will Weiske, Jimmy Miller, Roy Lee and Richard P. Rubinstein. Josh Boone serves as director and an executive producer for the series premiere and final episode. Jake Braver, Jill Killington, Owen King, Knate Lee, and Stephen Welke serve as producers.
