The point symbol for the capital is to be placed at the coordinates found in the GEOnet Names Server (http://geonarnes.nga.mil/namesg~: 31046' 35" N, 0350 13' 37" E. (See the map on the following page). When scale allows, the following disclaimer should appear on the map: "The United States recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital in 2017 without taking a position on the specific boundaries of Israeli sovereignty." This disclaimer replaces any former disclaimer concerning Jerusalem. On whether or not to show a capital city symbol on a map, common sense practice applies. For instance, it is not necessary to show a capital city symbol for a large scale map of the city of Jerusalem, nor is it necessary to show a capital symbol and label for Jerusalem if no other countries on the map show capital cities.     ISRAEL 2015 HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Israel is a multiparty parliamentary democracy. Although it has no constitution, the parliament, the unicameral 120-member Knesset, has enacted a series of “Basic Laws” that enumerate fundamental rights. Certain fundamental laws, orders, and regulations legally depend on the existence of a “state of emergency,” which has been in effect since 1948. Under the Basic Laws, the Knesset has the power to dissolve the government and mandate elections. The nationwide Knesset elections in March, considered free and fair, resulted in a coalition government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Civilian authorities maintained effective control over the security services. (An annex to this report covers human rights in the occupied territories. This report deals with human rights in Israel and the Israeli- occupied Golan Heights.) During the year according to Israeli Security Agency (ISA, also known as Shabak) statistics, Palestinians committed 47 terror attacks (including stabbings, assaults, shootings, projectile and rocket attacks, and attacks by improvised explosive devices (IED) within the Green Line that led to the deaths of five Israelis and one Eritrean, and two stabbing terror attacks committed by Jewish Israelis within the Green Line and not including Jerusalem. According to the ISA, Hamas, Hezbollah, and other militant groups fired 22 rockets into Israel and in 11 other incidents either planted IEDs or carried out shooting or projectile attacks into Israel and the Golan Heights.     West Nile virus (WNV) activity in humans and mosquitos Updated for 28/11/2016 In the following report, a human case patient who is defined as "suspected" refers to a patient whose lab test results indicate a possibility of infection with WNV, and a human case patient who is defined as "confirmed" refers to a patient whose lab test results show a definite infection with WNV. The final definition status of a patient who initially was diagnosed as "suspected" may be changed to "confirmed" due to additional lab test results that were obtained over time.     ÅA Wars in the Middle East are almost an every day part of Eero Junkkaala:of Three Canaan Conquests our lives, and undeniably the history of war in this area is very long indeed. This study examines three such wars, all of which were directed against the Land of Canaan. Two campaigns were conducted by Egyptian Pharaohs and one by the Israelites. The question considered being Eero Junkkaala whether or not these wars really took place. This study gives one methodological viewpoint to answer this ques- tion. The author studies the archaeology of all the geo- Three Conquests of Canaan graphical sites mentioned in the lists of Thutmosis III and A Comparative Study of Two Egyptian Military Campaigns and Shishak and compares them with the cities mentioned in Joshua 10-12 in the Light of Recent Archaeological Evidence the Conquest stories in the Book of Joshua. Altogether 116 sites were studied, and the com- parison between the texts and the archaeological results offered a possibility of establishing whether the cities mentioned, in the sources in question, were inhabited, and, furthermore, might have been destroyed during the time of the Pharaohs and the biblical settlement pe- riod. Despite the nature of the two written sources being so very different it was possible to make a comparative study. This study gives a fresh view on the fierce discus- sion concerning the emergence of the Israelites. It also challenges both Egyptological and biblical studies to use the written texts and the archaeological material togeth- er so that they are not so separated from each other, as is often the case.

A landform unique to Israel, Egypt and Sinai desert, it is a large erosion cirque, created 220 million years ago when oceans covered the area. The Ramon Crater measures 40 km in length and between 2 and 10km in width, shaped like a long heart, and forms Israel’s largest national park, the Ramon Nature Reserve. • Ramon Visitors Center, located on the edge of Makhtesh Ramon is overlooking the Crater. It displays the geography, geology, flora, fauna and history of the region from prehistoric to modern times. A film explains how the Makhtesh was formed and a three-dimensional interactive model helps bring home an understanding of the topography of this unique region. • Sde Boker kibbutz is famous as the home of David Ben Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister whose home is now a museum open to the public, and is the feature of a number of supporting exhibits in the kibbutz. Sde Boker is a community founded in 1952 by a number of pioneering families who were later joined by Ben Gurion after an interesting encounter. During the war, soldiers, journalists and foreigners swarmed here as the skewers of meat flowed out continually. "We did pretty well during the war," he says with a smile. He then describes how hard it was to stand over the grill while his son, a Golani soldier, was fighting on the inside. "But I prefer the quiet, although I don't believe in it. Another round is just a matter of time. This isn't genuine peace—the next battle will come and we'll accept whatever comes with love. We're not leaving. We're here and that's it." I talk with everyone I see, the vast majority of whom don't want to be photographed or quoted by name.

Today, they live in Nazareth, Bethlehem, Gaza, Nablus, Ramallah, Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa, Jenin, Taybeh, Birzeit, Jifna, al-Bireh, Zababdeh, Tel Aviv, Tubas, Azzun, Aboud, Tiberias, Sakhnin, Shefa-'Amr, Galilee, Jish, Amman, & other places in the Biblical Palestine & Jordan, in addition to the exile. They are Arab Christian Believers of Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, Catholic (eastern & western rites), Protestant, Evangelical & other denominations, who have ethnic or family origins in Palestine. In both the local dialect of Palestinian Arabic and in classical or modern standard Arabic, Christians are called Nasrani (a derivative of the Arabic word for Nazareth, al-Nasira) or Masihi (a derivative of Arabic word Masih, meaning "Messiah"). Christians comprise less than 4% of Palestinian Arabs living within the borders of former Mandate Palestine today (around 4% in the West Bank, a negligible percentage in Gaza, and nearly 10% of Israeli Arabs). According to official British Mandate estimates, Mandate Palestine’s Christian population varied between 9.5% (1922) and 7.9% (1946) of the total population. In 2005, it was estimated that the Christian population of the Palestinian territories was between 40,000 and 90,000 people, or 2.1 to 3.4% of the population.
