Eventually 8 acres were bought for [400 from William Stokes. The field was officially opened on the 31/8/1952 by the President of the G.A.A. Mr. V. O'Donoghue. Three South Teams have been successful to date - Davins, Brian Borus, Swan. Last year Aherlow took the title and they return again in 1989 having beaten loughmore/Castleiney in the county semi final. St. Patricks were beaten finalists in the south in 1988.
