The conditions of the power transmission system in Pakistan are inadequate to meet the rapidly growing demand for electrical power. This situation limits national development and economic growth. To cope with the power constraints, the existing power transmission infrastructure has to be improved, expanded and upgraded. System losses are to be reduced. The overall contribution of power infrastructure also requires institutional arrangements and capacity that support strategic management of the sector, and planning and management of investments. Overall the proposed Power Distribution Enhancement Investment Program Multi-Tranche Financing Facility (PDEMFF) has been designed to address both investment and institutional aspects in the electrical power sector. 3. The basic information/ data about the loan are here as under:- • Loan Number:-ADB-2727 PAK • Project Title: Power Distribution Enhancement Investment Program-Multi- Tranche Financing Facility PDEPMFF-Tranche-2 • Location of the Project: Project components are spread over FESCO territory comprising of Nine (09) Districts of Punjab • Borrower: GOP/FESCO • Executing Agency: PEPCO • Implementing Agency: FESCO • Date of Signing Agreement: 28-01-2011 • Date of Effectiveness: 05-10-2011 • Date of Loan Closing (revised): 31-03-2018 • Date of Last ADB Review Mission: 24-02-2017 • Amount of Loan: 11.23 Million US $ 1.3 Objectives of the Project 4.
