7 Days Western Taiwan 7 DAYS WESTERN TAIWAN DAY 01 : SINGAPORE/KAOHSIUNG (Lunch) Assemble at Singapore Changi International Airport. Your vacation begins with a pleasant flight to Kaohsiung. In the evening, we will visit Liuhe Night Market, a great place for bargains, shopping and local snacks. DAY 02 : KAOHSIUNG/TAINAN/SUN LINK SEA & FOREST RESORT (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) After breakfast, visit the Jingzaijiao Tile-Paved Salts Fields and the “Money Come” Provision Shop. They became famous after the Taiwanese drama (Prince become Frog) was filmed there. Next proceed to a Japanese style village built in 2011, located near to Xitou Nature Education Area, Xitou Monster Village. Cute Japanese monster statues are all over this small village with red lanterns hanging on the eaves. Restaurants and souvenir shops are named after different kinds of Japanese monsters. After that, visit Sun Link Sea Forest and Nature Resort. It is surrounded by primitive mountain scenery with pleasant climate. Be awed by the sea of clouds and magnificent waterfalls. In the evening, together with your loved ones, observe a starry and romantic night. DAY 03 : SUN LINK SEA & FOREST RESORT/SUN & MOON LAKE/TAICHUNG (Breakfast/Lunch) After breakfast, start your day with a visit to the Sun Link Sea Recreation Park. This 40-hectare scenic area, located at an elevation of around 1,600 meters, has a moderate monsoonal climate and primeval mountain forests, offering a view of Mt. Hehuan in the distance. We will take the park buses into the park, visiting the waterfall. One of the most beloved sights among the abundance of natural scenery here is the Qingyun Waterfall, which plunges 116 meters. And along the paths, variety of flowers blossom all year round, and maple leaves turn a brilliant red in the autumn. The flower center here is best known for its endemic peonies, which blossom in April, and during other seasons, flowers bloom everywhere. On the way down the mountain of Sun Link Sea, catch the 12 Chinese zodiac signs along the paths. Then proceed to visit Sun Moon Lake, the home town of aboriginal Shao Tribe. We will be taking a cruise ride on the Sun Moon Lake and enjoy the natural beauty. After that, proceed to Checheng Old Street, an old town of Nantou where during the olden days, it was bustling with workers working in the forest. The old street charm remains and it became a famous tourist attraction. Travelling along the way towards Jiji Old town, there are hundreds of century camphor trees forming a Green Tunnel, shading off the heat from the sun. Then proceed to Jingming First Street, where the very first cup of bubble tea was made here. In the area, there are also many shops that you can explore too. For those who don’t like shopping, you can enjoy a cup of coffee at the café in the street while waiting for your loved ones. In the evening, proceed to Fengjia Night Market - there are many local snacks which you must try out too. DAY 04 : TAICHUNG/TAIPEI (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) (During school holidays, Tamsui Old Street and Fisherman’s Wharf will be substituted with Leofoo Village Theme Park. Lunch will be at your own arrangement) After breakfast, proceed to Chong She Flowers Market. Throughout the whole year, different seasonal flowers are planted in the centre. Many newly-wed couples like to come here for their wedding shots. After that proceed to Gaomei Wetland Windmill Avenue. The towering windmill has become one of the most spectacular landscapes here. After that proceed to Tamsui Fort San Domingo, built by the Spanish in 1628 and has classified the Fort a grade one listed historical site. Then make your way to Tamsui Old Street, and you may try the famous “Grandma Iron Eggs”. Thereafter, enjoy the scenery at Fisherman’s Wharf, the actual filming site of popular TV drama series “Meteor Garden”. Then proceed to Jin Yong Quan Spa Hot Spring Hotel for your overnight stay. You can enjoy the hot spring facilities in the resort. (Note: Please bring your own swimwear and swim cap). ★Leofoo Village is one of the biggest theme park in Taiwan with several dozen of mobile games and customers will have their own favorites. DAY 05 : TAIPEI/YILAN/FARMSTAY (Breakfast/Dinner) After breakfast, proceed to Jiufen Old Street, an actual film site of Taiwan’s movie “Sad City”, a town with a rich heritage of its mining past. Don’t miss out trying some of the famous dishes such as Taro, sweet potato balls, beef noodle etc. Next, we will visit Ping Si Shifen Train Station. The Shifen Train Station is the largest stop on the Pingsi Railway and the place where trains are temporarily housed for switching. This train system has continuously operated since the Japanese Colonial Period, and train drivers exchanged passes here. You may purchase and release the lit lanterns into the sky in hopes that your prayers will be answered. And you can also explore the Shifen Old Street, with its nostalgic ambience. Then proceed to Toucheng Farm. In the farm, visit the fruit ranch where many types of fruits are grown. Enjoy a stroll down the beautiful and peaceful green pasture and in the evening, have a chance to participate in farm activities such as releasing Heavenly lantern, learn to make “Tang Yuan” (glutinous rice balls) and many more. After an exciting day at the farm, have a good rest at the farm house. DAY 06 : FARMSTAY/TAIPEI (Breakfast/Lunch) After breakfast, visit Shilin Presidential Residence, the former President and First lady Residence. In the evening, back to downtown center of Taipei, and visit the Taipei 101Shopping Mall and Ximenting for shopping. DAY 07 : TAIPEI/SINGAPORE (Breakfast) In the morning, free at leisure till your transfer to the airport for your flight back to Singapore. We hope you have a memorable time with Jun Air Travel! Introduction A. Motivation In Taiwan, the most special landmark is the night market. There are many famous night markets throughout Taiwan. Starting from every evening, the night markets are always crowded with people. Furthermore, the Taiwanese snacks in night markets have played important roles in Taiwanese people’s lives. There are many unique Taiwanese snacks in night markets that you can’t find in any other countries around the world. Every time when we go to night markets, we can see lots of vendors selling Taiwanese snacks, and there are many teenagers purchasing them. As we can see there are all sorts of snacks sold in night markets, and they are so popular with teenagers. So we want to carry out a study to investigate the attraction of the Taiwanese snacks in night markets. B. Research Questions The present study was designed to address the following research questions: 1. What are the teenagers’ responses to the Taiwanese snacks in night markets? 2. What are the teenagers’ perspectives on the attraction of Taiwanese snacks in night markets? C. Methodology The subjects were 350 students, ranging in age from 15 to 18, in Chung Shan Industrial and Commercial Vocational School in Kaohsiung. Concerning the subjects’ frequencies of visiting night markets in Taiwan, 49% of the students seldom went to night markets; 41% of them went to night markets once in a while, and only 10% of them went to night markets frequently.
