• Revenue Opportunities for 2009 – Sponsorship, we felt that it would be more beneficial to the Keystone Centre to have the event and then sell the sponsorship. Example it would have been easy to get a few $500.00 sponsors but it is really hard to up sell them to a $5,000.00 sponsorship the following year. We feel that The Round Up is now an event that we can successfully sell to potentially larger sponsors. The Round Up 2008

• Revenue for 2009 cont. – Tradeshow will also grow in the number of exhibitors – larger numbers at the gate At The Mane Event in Red Deer, we spoke to Ron and Jan Mansfield the coordinators of the event. Friday nights attendance surpassed the total number of people thru the gate for the entire weekend in 2007, their first annual. The Round Up 2008 THE ROUND UP FEEDBACK 08

To Whom It May Concern,

I wanted to take the opportunity to commend the Keystone for holding the Roundup held this past weekend. The show was well organized and run and presented an excellent array of equine information. I would especially like to recognize Chas for organizing and running the weekend. This type of weekend highlights the potential we have in the Keystone Centre and this type of event can only get bigger and bigger and more popular. I hope this will be the first annual event. I will certainly tell my equine friends who didn’t or couldn’t come that they missed an excellent event.

Sincerely,

Rick Andrews

Hello Chas, My daughter and I had to leave prior to the final event. Who won the Horseman's Challenge? Also, I saw that the events were recorded. Will DVDs be available to purchase or view sometime in future?

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, and learned so very much. We will definitely be returning next year, and spreading the good word among our friends.

Best wishes, Anita Daher

Just wanted to thank the Keystone Centre for bringing The Round Up to us, it was a fantastic 3 day event that I hope you will continue to sponser and bring back year after year. I came with a friend from just outside Winnipeg - my first time in Brandon. I will definitely recommend this event to other horse lovers in my area and hope to have increased attendance next year.

It would be nice to have a bigger arena in your facility for the comfort of the people in attendance, the seats can be hard after 3 straight days. Chaz did a fabulous job of keeping this event going and entertaining.

Thank you again for sponsering this event and keep it coming back.

Hey Chas , I want to congratulate you on a show well run...you are amazing , seriously . And always smiling no matter how stressful it must have been coordinating such an event and no matter how many directions you were being pulled . You were impressive every step of the way .

I have been to many symposiums and clinics across North America over the last twenty some years and can say through experience that yours was most certainly one of the smoothest running , well organized and interesting .

Thankyou very much for your invitation to be a part of this wonderful show ....would love to repeat the performance next year if you need me . Now that I've done the Roundup this year, I already have ideas to improve what I could do for next year. If you have someone else in mind for next year that's ok as well as I will certainly be there next year as a spectator ....I picked up a lot of good info this year from watching the other wonderful clinicians.

The feedback from all the spectators was very enthusiastic and ,as we all know ,that in the horse business , the best advertising is by word of mouth. Gauranteed the project will snowball from here and keep building momentum with each year . It was a great show and that is the "word on the street" , and people hearing that ,.are already commenting on attending next years "Roundup ".

Well done, Chas

Sincerely,

Elaine Banfield

HI Chas. I just wanted to send you a note in regards to The Roundup. Congratulations! It was fantastic. My husband took the whole weekend off to watch which is extremely rare considering that he is only home on weekends. We both agreed that $35 was cheap for what we got out of it. Those trainers use the same approach we like but take it a whole lot further. I hope that it does become an annual event. It would have been nice to have the whole thing videoed for purchase because it was hard to see it all and it was all great!

I thought I would also just send you ideas that I was listening around at for next year. Take them or leave them. I really, really pushed my club members and parents to come, but only a couple came. I was very disappointed since a lot of the presentations were totally applicable to them. Their comments were that it was too expensive by the time they brought their families, and I would have to agree that younger ones really wouldn't have been that interested. Maybe 8 and under should be free. Jason is 10 and he really wasn't that keen. Maybe you can have something for them to do (a kid friendly lounge) so that their parents will come and the kids can hang there when not listening. Also, do you realize that if 4-H kids got in cheaper, they still have to get there...which means that their parents still have to bring them in...and pay. Since I think it is fantastic, I know they would enjoy it once they got there, and news travels fast. It also helps promote 4-H.

Please don't take this as a criticism...we thought it was awesome and I can't wait until the next one! I hope lots more people will come to enjoy it!

Thanks!

Good Morning,

I would just like to pass on my congratulations on your first Round Up Weekend. It truly was an outstanding equine event.

The quality of the clinicians, demonstations, displays and entertainment were second to none. I can honestly say I have never been to an event like this, didn't know what to expect, and was totally impressed by every aspect of it.

Congratulations to you, your staff and Glen Stewart on all your hard work. It did not go unnoticed. Unfortunately the size of the crowds could have been bigger but next year will be a much different story. Brandon is a word-of-mouth town, and you can bet everyone that was there is now talking. I so look forward to next year's Round Up as I know it will be another great weekend.

Sincerely, Sue Karashowsky Brandon

The Round up was an awesome event! We thoroughly enjoyed it and applaud the Keystone and Chas Lambert for hosting this great horse event! We were surprised at who didn't make it to the Round Up and when I talked to friends discovered that they did not know that the event was on. The name Round Up perhaps did not acurately describe the event and while the posters were lovely they didn't really give enough information. Better advertising would make a huge difference next year! My family is into the English side of the horse industry.. I realize that the round pen work applies to all disciplines when starting colts. Perhaps you could have your trainers work with other breeds rather than just quarter horses? Warmbloods, Thoroughbred and Arabians would be very interesting to see in the round pen. I would like to suggest that you offer discounts to 4-H and Pony Club kids as this would bring in their parents too.Is there any possibility that the trainers could hold clinics during the week following? Information such as this is invaluable to everyone and can only enrich our horse experience. Keep up the good work! Gail, Kelly, Bonnie Campbell

Good Morning

Please pass on my applause to Chas and his committee for one of the best equine events ever held in the Keystone.

The Clinicians where some of the most informative horse-persons I have ever listened to (and so willing to share there knowledge)

You are to be commended for taking the chance on a new equine event that can only grow over the next few years, people are always looking for knowledge and you have supplied a great place to learn.

I am already looking forward to next year.

Please forward this email to all involved.

Thanks, Again for a great event.

Hi Chas, I want to thank you and your organizers for putting on the Round Up event. What a fabulous event, very well organized and really felt "down home" with everyone working together. You can put me down for a booth next year. Sure would like to have a little better setup for our demos tho, so we don't have to compete so heavily for the clinician time slots. I would like 15-20 min demo spots, don't need an hr, 1/2 hr at most, maybe some of the others would agree on that as well. The management overall was supurb, very pro-active and timely, excellent job Chas! Pet peeve - the demo area under the heating/air system made it real hard to be heard at times, and maybe our trade booths could be out in the isleway or ALL TOGETHER in one room with the sand roundpen & our demos could be scheduled between the lessons/trainers there, giving us equal audience. Thanks again, Barb Fenwick

I can't say enough to my "horse people" about last weekend. It was very well organized, the caliber of clincians,"cowboys" was excelent and well worth the money and trip to Brandon. We missed Friday night, but I would make every effort to come for the whole thing (assuming and praying you run it again) next year.

I particularly enjoyed Lee Smith, she has wonderful insite and is very good at getting her ideas and her inspiration across and of course her humor made her easy to listen to. English being my first dicipline, it was nice to see someone local in the mix. Elaine has a nice way about her, is always good to watch, and a great coach.

The colt starting was a real eye opener. Bruce Logan really amazed me with how much he did on the final day, and how he had his horse trusting him. The whole process seemed second nature to Mel, everything he did was so much a part of him and he just seemed so confident.

In all a great experience, really hope you have it again. Please put me on the list for any info [email protected] and I will happily spread the word to all who will listen.

Thanks for a great "horse" weekend.

Jackie Newlove Winnipeg, Mb.

Hi there !! It has been a whole week since The Roundup and I am still 'on a high' !!!!!!!!!!!! I can't find words to tell you how much I enjoyed every minute of it. AND to think that I almost didn't go because I had a trail ride booked. OMG

As I sat and enjoyed the clinicians I thought about my many friends that would have loved to have been there had they known what was being offered. They certainly heard in short order what they had missed and mostly everyone I have talked to is ready to book rooms and be there for next year. I think that when the word gets around the people will come...... but 'The Roundup 2008' will be darn hard to beat !! Many Thanks to Chaz and his team for a job well done !!

Sincerely Darlene Fisk

The Round-up was FABULOUS. I have traveled to both Calgary and to see clinicians etc. This was by far the best. I am sorry for those who missed it, there was so much to see and so much to learn. Having an equine event of this caliber in Manitoba was great. A first for our province. I only hope that the lack of spectators does not deter you from doing it again next year. I think that you could draw from the horse enthusiasts in Ontario as well. PLEASE PLEASE host this event again next year, there are many of us out here who will be willing to help get the word out or assist in any manner that would be helpful. Val Emerson Gladstone

Hi Chas,

Just wanted to drop you a note to say WOW!!!!! Jay and I both thought the Roundup was phenomenal. All the people you had presenting were absolutely top notch. In our opinion, there was something there for anyone who is involved with horses. Your hard work and dedication was really noticed by alot of people. The Roundup is just what Brandon and the facility there needed. To have an event like you put together is truly an asset for Manitoba horse people. The Keystone Centre is lucky to have an aggressive visionary like you to put that place on the map with events such as this. We have spoke to others who did not go and were very disappointed they didn't after we told them how great it was. We sure hope you do it again next year as we are already making plans to attend. I know alot of others who will go back too as well as some who missed it. We would also like to thank you for letting us both be part of it. We both gained so much. I personally loved Lee. She is so real, and is truly an amazing woman. Jay is planning on going to a Keith Stewart Clinic this summer maybe and is going to his place this fall for a different clinic. We really also enjoyed the colt starting. What talented guys!!!!

Anyway - You deserve a real pat on the back for all your efforts. It was appreciated and noticed by many. We hope you get a good rest - you deserve it!!

See ya soon!!

Dear Chas I wish to let you know that the ROUNDUP was very enjoyable and extremely infomative. It far exceeded my expectations .I had taken a a LEVEL 1 PARELLI COURSE with Glen Stewart about 4 years ago so I knew his presentations would be top knotch but i didn't anticipate the high calibre of the other trainers. Unfortunately most of my horse owner friends and clients in Dauphin did not know about the Roundup and they were disappointed that they had missed it after I told them how good it was.I found about it accidently when I was checking the Keystone website for the Fair agenda. If you have the event next year I would be willing to try and spread the word in this area.I am retiring from practice but one of my associates said that she would send out Emails to our equine clients and put a notice on our website.Send a notice to Dr. Roxane Neufeld at "[email protected]".I would be willing to get some posters posted and spread the word at local equine events if you notified me at"[email protected]"(Dr. Tom Colbert). The Dauphin Herald newspaper puts out an ag. supplement early each spring that goes to alot of people so it might be worth considering. My mailing address is P.o. Box 283 if you wanted to send some posters.I hope to see you next year! Dr. Tom Colbert.

I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed The Roundup in April. It was totally amazing to have all that going on in Manitoba. Glenn Stewart is truly marvelous, he is so personable and so dedicated to helping people with their horses and helping horses. Thank you to Chas Lambert and Glenn Stewart for organizing The Roundup and putting together such a talented group of clinicians. There was so much going on and so much to learn it was amazing. I hope this becomes an annual event at the Keystone Center. I know we needed more people to attend but that will happen as people realize what is being offered. Only the Keystone has the facilities and staff to make this event so successful. We are very lucky to have this opportunity in Manitoba. Thanks so much and please continue to offer this event. Hi

The Roundup was a wonderful event! Very educational and interesting. Hope you can have another one next year. If you have tapes of the colt starting available I would be interested in buying. Thanks for putting on such a Great Weekend.

Hi I just wanted to take the time to congratulate Chas and the rest of the staff involved in creating the Round Up. It was a great event! I was able to attend all three days and the horsemans challenge was excellent. I was able to pick up some ideas from all three trainers. It was absolutly amazing what they were able to do with those fillies in such a short time, it was great to watch. I understand that you will be selling the dvd of the horsemans challenge, I would be definitly interested in purchasing it please let me know when they will be available and how much. Once again thanks for a very inspiring weekend and I look foward to attending the next Round Up. Tracy Minary

"The Round-Up is an extremely valuable addition to the equine calendar in Manitoba. It was obvious that a lot of hard work had gone into planning the initial event, and the organisers are very receptive to suggestions to make it even better for upcoming years. The quality of horsemanship displayed was excellent; and it was gratifying to see local people up there with the out-of-towners. Manitoba needed an "equines-only" event of this quality, and I am sure that in future years the event will draw even more people from out of province. I know that I talked to one of my subscribers who had driven fourteen hours from Dryden, ON, to attend with his family. The planning was there; the quality of clinicians was there; the base element of people was there. Now is the time to build on this success and continue for the future."

Horse Country will run at least two pages of coverage from the event. Deadline to get anything to me for that coverage is May 12. Phew. I think that's it for now! Best regards

To the management and employees of the Keystone Centre,

I would like to thank you all for being so professional and caring. It was a true pleasure doing business in an environment second to none. Everyone I met that worked with or for the Keystone Center was courteous, kind, and went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable, and effective in my presentation at the Round up.

I felt that the event was very successful for me as a presenter, well-planned, and fun. And I thank you for the opportunity. It is my belief that there is enough interest in the community that the event will continue to grow into something that the Keystone Centre will be proud to promote.

Because of Your Professionalism, and the Quality of Your Facility I will continue to do business with the Keystone Centre as a host facility for subsequent horsemanship clinics, and I look forward to long and mutually profitable relationship.

I would like to thank you once again for an enjoyable opportunity to present quality horsemanship to the folks in Manitoba.
