26TH DEC - 27TH DEC m Game Day Progra Round 2 - Vs MELBOURNE ACES Coach's call The reigning champions to kick off our season? Bring it on. A couple of games against the last year's champions brings with it an opportunity to test ourselves against the very best early on and gauge our new-look squad for 2020/21. This season, I'm excited at the potential of our offence. With the likes of Zach Wilson, Tucker Nathans, Boss Moanaroa & Donald Lutz in our squad for this series, we've got legitimate power up and down the line-up. Best not park your car anywhere close to MIT Ballpark on gameday! You can also expect us not rely on the long ball to pace our offence. Chavez Young, Samad Taylor and former ABL Helms Award winner Mikey Reynolds are amongst the fastest guys the league has seen and will be a threat to steal bases every time they get on base. Our pitching was extremely competitive last season and we’ll see our best local and interstate Australian arms return. Keep your eye on left hander, Shawn Morimando who's going to be a key piece in the starting rotation for the 2020/21 season. MIKEY REYNOLDS The ABL's batting award winner just 2 seasons ago, the signing of Mikey Reynolds brings both speed and finesse to the Cavalry line up. AUSTIN GALLAGHER A former Phillies signing, Austin brings another huge bat to our line up. Austin will prove to be a valuable utility player across the season. BAS NOOIJ Following stints with both the Adelaide Bite and the Auckland Tuatara, Bas joins us as Robbie Perkins' second in command behind the plate. THE NEW FACES JAMES ALBURY Another Aussie arm joins our bullpen, and James Albury brings with him previous ABL experience with the Brisbane Bandits. DONALD LUTZ One of the Cavalry's inaugural players returns to where it all began for Season 2020/21. ABL Legend, Donald Lutz joins the Cavalry, having played the majority of his ABL career with the Brisbane Bandits. BOSS MOANAROA The Boss Man is back in Cavalry colours! Following a brief stint back in Sydney, Boss Moanaroa returns for another season with the Canberra Cavalry. SHAWN MORIMANDO Having played for the Cleveland Indians at MLB level, Shawn brings another strong arm to the Cavalry bullpen. Can he recapture the form that took him to the big show? THE NEW FACES SAMAD TAYLOr The first of our Toronto Blue Jays players for the season, Samad will bring some depth and utility to our squad, playing both 2B and 3B. CHAVEZ YOUNG The second of our Toronto Blue Jays players for the season, Chavez is considered one of the brightest prospects in the Blue Jays system. You'll see him in our outfield in Season 2020/21! DEAN ALDRIDGE Coming off some injury-stricken seasons, Dean Aldridge joins the Cavalry from the Sydney Blue Sox, looking for an opportunity to re-establish himself in the ABL.
