The right steps were taken in the direction of further growth with the commencement with the production of mudguards in 1983. At the beginning of the 1990s, SKS GERMANY supplied to as many as 90 countries around the world as market lea- der in the original biking equipment segment. SKS is today one of the leading manufacturers of quality accessories for international biking. By the way, the name SKS is an abbreviation of Scheffer-Klute Sundern.

From the Amstel Gold Race to the Salzkammergut Trophy – we were at numerous bike events in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands with our SKS GERMANY truck in the 2017 season. This obviously also included the local MEGA SPORTS mountainbike festival, where international parti- cipants get pedalling on the SKS company site, in order to conquer the Sauerland heights in the SKS Bike Marathon. At this event, we place special emphasis on a personal exchange of views, as we can only continue to offer you a strong range of products if we have your feedback. You then return on narrow trails or you can decide to use the well-developed forest trails that lead you to Sieben-Wege-Kreuz via the Sorpeberg.
This is where downhill cracks get their money´s worth. The fast descent to Dörnholthausen that stretches for kilometres provides a new panoramic view around each curve. Absolute freeride enjoy- ment. The tour continues to Stockum, where typical Sauerland restaurants invite tired bikers to take a rest. From here, you can return to Seidfeld via the former glider airfield.
Those who want to spice up the return trail to Sundern with some altitude, can bike up the Auf‘m Stück range of hills. Forest trails slowly but stee- ply bring you to the transmission mast. The reward is a real trail treat: technically demanding sections in terrain that is partially stony lead you down to your starting point in the valley.

How high the air pressure is that a tyre needs depends on numerous factors. When riding on asphalt, the formula is: the higher the air pressure, the lower the roll resistance of the tyres. Wide tyres and tubeless tyres should generally be used with a lower pressure. The weight also plays a role: The heavier the bike with the biker is, the higher the pressure has to be.
Tube manufacturers advise bikers to check the air pressure and adjust it at least once per month as even the tightest tyre tubes continually loose pressure. A pressure loss of 1 bar per month is normal. In- stead of using the popular »thumb pressure test«, you should carry out a check using a pressure gauge. Buying a SKS GERMANY stand pump with pressure gauge is therefore always worth your while!

»Ride an eBike? Me? NEVER! That is something for old people. For pensioners who want to accelerate again or as a modern form of recreation for sprightly senior citizens. But the pedelecs are even popular off-road now! I must admit that there are some cool eMountainbike models with suspension, off-road tyres and disc brakes. But is riding them fun? It´s worth putting it to the test. Onlookers would not notice that I am biking with »E«. The motor is concealed in the frame and the display is inconspicuously positioned on the handlebars. We cruise through the forest, me on the eBike and my boyfriend on a normal mountainbike. The time has come to ascend. The road permanently winds its away upwards through the mountains. I press the button on the display and jump forward. Whoops! I race past my stunned boyfriend at high speed who looks as if he isn't having as much fun as I am. »Can you wait for me at the top?«, he calls after me. I would have answered him but I was unfortunately behind the next curve. I'm beginning to like this. Downhill, the heavy bike is rolling easily on the surface. I start pedalling in a relaxed manner and when ascents comes, I switch the controller to power and enjoy the feeling of being able to conquer the steepest ascent without difficulty. I am addicted. The mo- tor support makes it possible to go on much longer tours, and partners with different performance levels can bike together without the weakest one being left behind. By the way: my boyfriend also wants to try out an eMountainbike. He said that he could not cope with my big grin when I overtake him when ascending.« 32-33

In 1993, the inventive man from Branden- burg rode his original tandem at the Tour de France.
