Holly Lyons : Holly has been a member of the ADTS Staff for 16 years. She is a former Kilgore College Rangerette and served as Lieutenant her sophomore year. Holly Graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors of Science in Dance and Kinesiology. She is the former director of the Canyon High School Aristocats and former owner of The Element New Braunfels Dance Center. Currently, she is the new director of the Vandegrift High School Legacies. Camp Dance: “Popular” – The Veronica’s – Time: 1:58 –The camp dance is choreographed on an upper intermediate level, but can be easily adapted to most ability levels. It encompasses pirouettes, pencil turns, a grande jeté, and various other leaps and turns as well as stylized movements with weight changes. Once All American auditions are complete, this will be ideal for the first pep rally. Kick Off: “Bleeding Love” – Fringe (power remix) – Time: 0:45 - This simple kick series offers straight jump kicks, ‘around the world’ kicks, exercise kicks, and fan kicks. It is designed for the auditions for Kick Company and Miss High Kick Auditions. Camp Manager: Kara Guinn - Kara Guinn is the Head Instructor for American Dance Drill Team and has 29 years of camp experience (yikes!). She is a former Kilgore College Rangerette and a Past President of Dance Drill Team Directors Association. Currently she directs the award winning Calico Dance Team at Corsicana High School. Jennifer Hodge: Jennifer is currently the director for the Auburn University Tiger Paws Dance Team. Prior to moving to Auburn Alabama Jennifer was the director for the Texas A&M Aggie Dance Team and owned the A&M Dance Academy. She graduated from Texas State University with a bachelors degree in Dance Education and Exercise Sport Science. Jennifer has been a part of the ADTS staff for the past 15 years and has choreographed award-winning routines for studios, high schools, and college dance teams. Int Pom – “Back in the Day” –Various Artists – Time: 2:03 - Dust of your parachute pants, neon spandex, gold chains, and get ready to shake your way back to the 1980’s. This routine will energize your dancers and crowd as you dance to the hottest 80’s hip hop tunes. “Back in the Day” has many visual sections, floor work, and parts along with the classic 1980’s roger rabbit, running man, MC hammer, and cabbage patch. It time to BUST A MOVE cuz there is no parking on the dance floor. Int Hip Hop – “In the Ayer” –Various Artists – Time: 2:11 - Get the crowd’s “hands in the AYER” to the “music in the CD player” with this non stop heart pounding hip hop remix. This routine is a funky fusion of hip-hop and attitude. “In the Ayer Jam” has innovative choreography which includes parts, section work and levels/groups with high energy hip-hop style. Int Character Jazz – “It Won’t Be Long Now” –In the Heights Musical – Time: 2:00 - Ladies and Gentlemen……..It’s Showtime! This sassy salsa Broadway number incorporates jazz technique (pirouettes, kick, chainé turns, and grande jeté) with an emphasis on stylization, Broadway Latin jazz, and attitude. Your team will come alive with sassiness dancing as if their name is in Broadway Lights. Miriam Vera: Miriam has been on the American Staff as the Modern/Lyrical Staff Captain since 2001. She attended Texas Woman’s University and has her Bachelors of Arts in Dance degree as she graduated summa cum laude. Miriam has danced with a professional modern dance company, Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, and with TWU’s Dance Theatre. Miriam is currently the teaching dance and is the dance team director of the award winning Topcats at The Colony High School. Int/Adv Modern – “Slow Me Down” –Emmy Rossum – Time: 2:03 - This is a contemporary modern routine with various dancing qualities throughout the dance. With some slow and fluid movements as well as with some dynamic quick motions, this dance is a representation of having to go through life with ups and downs. This dance will definitely challenge your intermediate dancer with the innovative technical movements which includes partner work, turns, leaps, and group sections! This piece is perfect for special performances, spring show and contest! Int/Adv Stylized Jazz – “Earth Intruders” –Bjork – Time: 2:01 - Are you ready for a technical and stylized jazz routine that will captivate the audience? Learn this intricate routine that includes a la second turns, various leaps, unique turns, and a dark and dynamic performance. This jazz routine is definitely geared towards the advanced dancer because of the quick weight shifts and the performance quality it requires to fascinate the audience, but it will surely challenge and encourage your intermediate dancer due to the virtuosic movements. This dance can easily be taught to an ensemble or even team for spring show and also contest. Prepare to experience a stylized jazz that will keep you wanting for more! Adv Lyrical – “Missing” –Evanescence – Time: 2:06 - Missing is an expressive dance that will interest both the intermediate and advanced dancer. Based on an inspiration to capture moments of loneliness and feelings of always “being left out of the group,” this dance will be easy for the dancer to relate to while performing. Based on smooth and natural movements, this dance will still challenge your dancer with innovative turns, floorwork, and leaps. This dance also becomes challenging when the dancer gets the solos choreographed in the dance—with reaching and expressive technical movements. Perfect for contest, spring show, or even special performances—come and learn a dance that will give you chills! Tasha Evans: Tasha is a graduate from Texas Woman's University where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Dance degree. She has performed for the Fort Worth Arts & Music Festival, the March of Dimes, and the NCAA Basketball Tournament. She was an officer of the Trinity Valley Community College Cardettes and a member of the Texas Women’s University DanceWorks Performing Company. Tasha is currently teaching at United Dance & Cheer and a performer/teacher for Gino Johnson's online hip hop website hiphopdancespot.com. Int Hip Hop – “Beautiful” –Akon – Time: 2:21 - If you want a challenge, this dance is for you! It will be a crowd favorite! Don’t let the song fool you; it is upbeat and sassy. You can perform this at pep rallies, basketball games and spring show. This hip hop is focused on the back beat and different isolations which makes it challenging and fun! Int Contemporary – “Coldest Winter” – Kanye West – Time: 2:07 - This free-flowing, let your hair down routine will bring out the energy and spice to dance to floor. Great combinations and parterning will invigorate you to express yourself. It will be a great challenge that includes weight shifts, timing, and emotional connections to the movement. Int/Adv Pom – “I Hate this Part” –Pussy Cat Dolls – Time: 1:46 - This pom dance is fast, sassy, and challenging. It will get the audience hyped and pumped from the cool jumps, ripples, and crazy arm movement. This routine is challenging but exciting to learn and bring back to teach your team! Brittany Watkins: Brittany Watkins danced at Mclennan Community College (05-06) where they were ranked #3 in the nation by NDA and National Champions at the American Collegiate Championship. She was also named the Top Gun Leaps & Turns Winner at college summer camp. This is Brittany's 5th year with American Dance/ Drill Team and she is currently the Assistant Director for the award winning Calicos Dance Team in Corsicana, TX. Int Kick – “Stand Out” –Tevin Campbell - Time: 2:09 - This Intermediate kick will keep the audience on their toes. There are several technical jazz sections included in the routine along with interesting kick sequences and lots of direction changes. This routine is sure to make you Stand Out! Int Pom – “Outta My Head” – Ashlee Simpson – Time: 2:07 - This is a fast paced pom full of kicks, leaps, and turns. This routine travels around the floor and includes fast arm work, many parts and levels. It is an all around an exciting routine that will be great for a pep rally to get the crowd ignited! Int/Adv Prop/Novelty – “Game Show” –- The Hit Crew (Family Feud theme song) - Time: 2:26 – Come on down! This crowd pleasing novelty is full of character and personality. There are a variety of advanced leaps, and all the fun you can handle! This routine will be a crowd favorite at your spring show or pep rally and could wow the judges at a contest! Meredith Shaver-Walraven: Meredith Walraven is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where she earned a bachelors degree in Dance. She started her teaching career at Rowlett High School as the Junior Varsity director; under her direction, the Rhythmettes earned Regional and National titles. She is now currently finishing her second year at Plano Senior High where she is the Varsity Director of the recently named 2009 Super Large Team and Officer National Champions. This is Meredith's fifth year on staff and has choreographed many routines for line and officer camps as well as area dance team's contest routines. Adv Jazz – “Accessory” – Jordyn Taylor (Confessions of a Shopaholic) - Time: 2:13 - This Jazz dance is a fun, energetic dance that could be performed at a pep rally, basketball game, or competition. It is easily manipulated into a more intermediate for those that are not up to the advanced level but can add extra turns and sequencing for the more advanced dancers.
