2017 – 2018 | 9 Positive Behavior Intervention Supports Family Central 954-720-1000 This initiative strengthens current Early Care and Education programming in an effort to meet the comprehensive needs of child care centers, teachers, and families. The program uses a cadre of Quality Coaches who provide training and quality improvement support to participating child care providers. Some activities include providing training and technical assistance using the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) approach specific to preschool inclusion, family involvement, cultural sensitivity, and developmentally appropriate curricula.

Financially Assisted Childcare Early Learning Coalition of Broward County 954-377-2188 This program provides subsidized child care for low-income families residing in Broward County based on income eligibility. The intent of this program is to prevent child abuse and neglect; assist families in becoming or remaining economically self-sufficient; and prepare preschool-aged children to enter school ready to learn.

HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Family Central 954-720-1000 This is an internationally recognized, evidence-based, home visiting family literacy program. Its goal is to strengthen a parent’s capacity as their child’s first teacher and help them increase their child’s desire to learn while succeding in school.

These year-round and summer programs provide a safe, positive environment for elementary school children from economically- disadvantaged areas in Broward County, for children and youth ages 3-22 with behavioral health and other special needs. High-quality and enriching activities expose children to art and culture, music, science and community service while boosting academic achievement, supporting social and physical development, and strengthening children’s relationships with adults and peers within their families, schools and communities.
