Its’ key objectives include contextualizing and problematizing, while conceptualizing, the exclusion and inclusion existed on the lines of caste/ethnicity and religion, in the society. It also plays a key role in suggesting policy formulations aiming at eradicating the problem of social exclusion and discrimination and protecting the rights of these groups The CSSEIP has acclaimed its’ existence as one of the few such Centres started in India following the UGC’s initiative to establish and promote the Centres for study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy during X Plan. Its activities include, teaching, research and action oriented programmes in collaboration with the reputed bodies working in the areas of social development among the socially excluded groups. Therefore, the UGC has identified the Maulana Azad National Urdu University as one of the universities to set up a centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) to study the nature, extent and forms of social exclusion among some selective socially excluded groups at present and to suggest theoretical and policy formulations in this regard. Lecture on “Media, Minorities and Social Exclusion: A Critical Analysis” by Dr. Naved Jamal, Assistant Professor, JMI, Delhi on 13th July, 2016. 2. Lecture on “Policies and Schemes for the development of minorities in Telangana State: An Analysis” by Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary to Government, Minority Welfare Dept, Government of Telangana on16-2-2017 3. Lecture held on “Access to Credit and Banking by Mr. Naseem Anwar, Assistant Manager, Andhra Bank, Charminar, Hyderabad on 28-2-2017. 4. Proposed Lecture to be held in first week of March 2017 on “Muslim Women Empowerment through SHGs in Telangana State” by Mrz. Feroz Sultana’ ICDS, Hyderabad. 5. Proposed Lecture to held in the last week of March 2017, on “Role of NGOs in Skill Development of Muslim Youth” by Dr. Mazher Hussain, Director, COVA, Hyderabad Extension Activities of the Centre 1. Madarsa Visit As a part of exposure visit for research scholars, a visit was made to a Madarsa, Raidurg, Hyderabad to have participant observation of the programmes conducted in the Madarsa. 4 2. Visits to parts of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State to interact with local stake holders of respective states about the situation of Muslims all these 5 South Indian states. Meetings with conducted with Government Staff/officials, NGOs, Civil Society Organisations, Religious leaders, Politicians, Academicians, Youth, SHGs and Self-Employed Groups. (December 2015 to June 2016) 3. Awareness Programmes were conducted with unemployed youth about job prospects under Skill Development Programmes of the Government (May-June 2016), in Hyderabad, in collaboration with Community elders of the old city. 4. Awareness Programme was conducted on “Participation of Muslims in political participation” in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district 5. Visit to Government Schools Interactive sessions were conducted with the teaching staff and students about the importance of school education and opportunities for Telugu and Urdu medium students in the higher education sector. Major Research Project Centre is awarded a Sponsored Research Programme (SRP) entitled “South Indian Muslims: Present and Future” by ICSSR, New Delhi. (2015-17) The total fund allotted for the project is 30.0 Lakhs in which 12.0 Lakhs are released. The project commenced from April 2015, presently field work is under process and basic information is gathering for theoretical base. Prof. P.H. Mohammad (Project Director), Dr. S.
