Bankia renews its support for the C.B. youth team

• With the aim of bringing to young people, close to 1,000 children of the yellow club will benefit directly from sports promotion programmes

• For the fourth consecutive year, the financial institution will launch the 'Triple Solidario' whereby the bank donates 50 euros for every three- pointer scored by the team in its league matches, which are earmarked for training projects for the youth team

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 16/11/2020. Bankia and the Gran Canaria Basketball Club have renewed, for the eighth consecutive year, their collaboration agreement to support the youth club of the yellow club, through sports promotion programmes that aim to promote and bring basketball to young people.

The agreement was signed at the by Bankia’s regional corporate manager in the Islas Canarias, Federico Navarro; Bankia’s commercial director in the Islas Canarias, María Mercedes Ballester; by the director of de Gran Canaria Business Centre, Marcos Oliván; and, representing the Gran Canaria Basketball Club, by its chairman, Enrique Moreno and the managing director of the entity, Juan Ramón Marrero.

Bankia will provide financial support to the sports promotion program during the sports season for the benefit of all the reserve teams of the CB Gran Canaria, with close on 1,000 children.

Bankia’s regional corporate director in the Islas Canarias said that “at Bankia we have a firm commitment to Canarian society in general and to young people in particular, therefore we are very proud to be part of the training of young people because, in addition to physical activity, they acquire values such as companionship and teamwork that we consider fundamental and with which we feel closely identified”.

For his part, Bankia’s Business Centre director for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria emphasised “the bank’s commitment to the Islands, which are fundamental for the bank”, as well as the "pride and responsibility of working with a reference club such as the C.B. Gran Canaria”.

For his part, the chairman of the CB Gran Canaria took advantage of the event to highlight that "it is a reason for mutual congratulation" to renew the agreement between the two entities after so many years of joint collaboration. In addition, the top executive of the club from Gran Canaria has highly valued this new agreement. "We show great satisfaction in knowing that such an important sponsor for us continues to be committed to our entity, and even more so in the current times”, said Moreno. Finally, he highlighted "the essential work of Bankia in supporting the training of all members of the yellow youth club, as it is a fundamental pillar of the C.B. Gran Canaria and that is experiencing continuous growth with each passing year, thanks, among many aspects, to this beneficial agreement”.

The financial institution will also carry out, for the fourth year, the 'Bankia Triple Solidario', whereby Bankia will donate 50 euros for each three-pointer that the first team scores during the games and competitions they play throughout the season. Likewise, the amount raised may be added to by the amount of 100 euros for each three-pointer scored from half court during a three-game break per season by fans chosen by CB Gran Canaria, Bankia and the legends of the club involved. The money raised at the end of the season will go to training projects for the youth team.

The youth team of the Gran Canaria Basketball Club will enjoy the advantages of this agreement, which also encompasses the long-lived 'Bankia Summer Campus' organised by the club and which is expected to be held as long as the health recommendations permit.

Likewise, the agreement contemplates the participation of club members in actions related to social integration projects that the bank has carried out in the Islands in the past, such as food collection for the Food Bank.
