Bill Goldstein gets his listeners below the surface by seeing things that most people miss. A powerful, entertaining personality with an ocean of real-world experience, his audiences are drawn to WHAT he says, and HOW he says it. Riveting, illuminating with takeaways by the bushel.

“Bill is a master promoter. Nobody like him. We all know that. Authentic. Razor sharp. Fearless. Hyper successful. And yet also a funny, delightful man. Being around Bill, listening to his juicy, gutsy, inside stories about the crazy world of sports and big business, told only the way he can tell them, is always a major treat.” -- Billie Jean King B I L L ' S P H I L O S O P H Y

“No one wants to hear about your success. At a dinner party, you don’t want to sit next to someone going on and on about how great they are. You want to sit next to the person in a body cast; they’ll have a good story. So when you tell a story, for it to matter to anyone, you must be real, which means digging deep – adversity and transformation are far more interesting than self-congratulations.”

“As a speaker, my job is to hold the audience. If they’re provoked. If they’re leaning in. If they want more. Well, then, I will have delivered on my promise.”

“If you want a consequential life, seek out opportunities to be in the arena. It’s not the critic who counts. No, the credit belongs to those in the arena whose faces are covered with sweat; who strive and yes, err, because there is no effort without error, who know great enthusiasms, and who at the worst fail while daring greatly, so that their place will never be with those timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.” -- Teddy Roosevelt S P E A K I N G T O P I C : B U S I N E S S P R I N C I P L E S T O L I V E B Y

An attorney, who during the upheaval of the 70s, declined offers from white shoe law firms instead to advocate for the have-nots as a left coast Legal Aid lawyer. In time, his passion for sports led him to exchange the laid-back California lifestyle for the hardscrabble canyons of Manhattan in the implausible pursuit of a career in sports. After stops at Madison Square Garden and the NBA, in 1979 Bill co-founded Sports Etcetera, one of the industry’s first event marketing agencies, specializing in the soup to nuts promotion of major sports events, as well as the representation of corporate clients pertinent to their event portfolios.

As promoters, Sports Etcetera established the Virginia Slims Tennis Championships as the largest, annual, women’s sports event in the world and promoted a variety of other events worldwide. As agents, Sports Etcetera was the agency-of-record for major brands including Merrill Lynch, Met Life, Unilever, Lipton, Heineken/Amstel, Chesebrough Ponds, Brut among others, negotiating and implementing over 1000 sports, cultural and entertainment corporate sponsorships across the globe.

As a pioneer in the no-holds-barred business of sports, Bill draws back the curtain and delivers an insider’s view of what has become one of the most fascinating industries in the world of business. His career included breathing fresh life into Madison Square Garden’s nearly moribund college basketball program; stopping for a cup of coffee at the NBA as Commissioner Larry O’Brien’s Legal Counsel/Executive Assistant drafting the sports industry’s first salary cap model; becoming -- given his lousy backhand -- an unlikely stakeholder in women’s professional tennis; and as the modern business of sports and entertainment was coming of age, co-founding Sports Etcetera one of the industry’s first Event Marketing agencies.

For years Bill represented all U.S. promoters on the Women’s Tennis Council, the sport’s governing body, while Sports Etcetera established the Virginia Slims Tennis Championships as the leading women’s event in the world.

Sports Etcetera also represented major corporations securing for them comprehensive sponsorship position in the: Olympics, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NASCAR, PGA, LPGA, NCAA, USTA, ATP, WTA, World Cup, Carnegie Hall, Bowl, Kentucky Derby, , Lincoln Center, Cirque du Soleil, Tour de France, America’s Cup, Wimbledon, Roland Garros, New York Philharmonic, Lyric Opera, Bolshoi Ballet, Goodman Theater.

“I retained Bill to deliver his speech on “Business is Business, No Matter What You Do,” hoping his no-nonsense style would shake up our national group of New Age entrepreneurs. I expected him to get resistance. To my delight, what he got instead was a love fest. From minute one he owned the auditorium and left to a rousing standing ovation, with people asking: “Who was that guy?” and “When is he coming back?” -- Olivia Whiteman - Executive Director, New Age Consortium

“When he spoke to my class of millennials they were utterly transfixed, keeping him an extra hour with questions, and then asking him to go for out for a beer… which he did! His observations about life in general, and business and sports in particular, were fresh, powerful, and strikingly relevant. Everyone left simmering with new possibilities.” -- L. James Miller - Lecturer, Harvard University

“Take one-part Judge Judy, two-parts Jerry Seinfeld, three-parts Larry David, and four-parts Lenny Bruce, throw in a dash of a younger, hipper version of Andy Rooney, mix them together and you’ll get an idea of what Bill Goldstein brings to the camera and to an audience.” -- William Elin - Author, screenwriter, director, producer

“An irreverent, complex truth teller. Bill is like an egg. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Authoritative yet approachable. He combines gravitas and wisdom with affability and soul. If you don’t find Bill Goldstein engaging… check your pulse.” -- Dr. George Pransky - Chairman/Founder, Pransky & Associates B I L L ' S E X P E R I E N C E B I L L I N T H E N E W S G E T I N T O U C H
