Taylor as one of the “Electrifying 100” driving vehicle electrification . As Chairman and CEO, Taylor is leading Enterprise Holdings in implementing the nation’s largest electric vehicle (EV) rental rollout. List includes industry leaders, auto manufacturers, as well as key influencers such as President Obama . Taylor spoke at the recent National Summit on Energy Security in Washington, D.C.: “When it comes to bringing alternative-powered vehicles to the mass market, the car rental industry is a critical link in the transportation value chain.” - Andrew C. Enterprise.com is named Best Rental Car Website . Keynote Competitive Research announced that Enterprise.com took 1st place for Best Overall Customer Experience. Keynote observed and interviewed 2,000 prospective rental car customers through their research study. The study revealed that when tested by actual users, Enterprise.com offers the strongest Overall Customer Experience, placing first in both Conversion Impact and Customer Satisfaction. Enterprise launches EV pilot in London . Enterprise is investing in a 12-month electric vehicle (EV) pilot in London involving eight Peugeot iOn cars. Enterprise has established 11 charging points in key branches across the city as part of London’s Plugged-In Places program. The pilot is part of Enterprise’s ongoing investment in alternative fuel technologies to help promote sustainable transportation. Enterprise Holdings Enterprise Holdings joins National Clean Fleets Partnership . In July, the Department of Energy announced Enterprise Holdings is one of six new Corporate Partners to join the National Clean Fleets Partnership – a public-private partnership that helps large companies reduce diesel and gasoline use in their fleets by incorporating electric vehicles, alternative fuels, and fuel-saving measures into their daily operations. Enterprise offers customers Chevy Volts and Nissan LEAFs in several markets through its neighborhood locations, local business rental programs and WeCar car-sharing. Enterprise and Europcar have been working to formally expand the alliance ever since Enterprise’s purchase of the National and Alamo brands in North America in August 2007. They had something here, everyone agreed about that. Zipcar had shaken up the car rental industry with a “new model” for people who wanted steady access to cars without the hassle of owning them. Sales had been phenomenal. Since its beginning in 2000, Zipcar had experienced 100%+ growth annually, with annual revenue in the previous year of $241.6 million. Zipcar now boasted more than 750,000 members and over 8,900 cars in urban areas and college campuses throughout the United States, Canada and the U.K. and claimed nearly half of all global car-sharing members. The company had continued international expansion by purchasing the largest car sharing company in Spain. The buzz had been wonderful. Still, Zipcar’s stock price was being beaten down, falling from a high of $31.50 to a current trade at $8 and change (See Exhibit 1). The company had failed to turn an annual profit since its founding in 2000 and held but two months’ of operating cash on hand as of September 2012. Critics wondered about the sustainability of the business model in the face of increased competition. There was no doubt: the “big guys” were circling.
