Spring 2008 COURIER Awards Highlight Press Club Annual Meeting The Press Club’s annual meeting made a morning appearance for the first time in its 51 year history as 60 members and guests gathered at the Bistro Room of the Seven Gables Inn for a continental breakfast on December 11th. Bill McClellan of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and KETC-TV’s Donnybrook fame kicked off the affair with a light-hearted, humorous talk. Awards were presented by President Alice S. Handelman, culminating with the club’s highest honor, The Catfish Award, given to Pamela Nie- haus, public relations consultant, St. Louis Com- munity College. Pamela has been a key member of the board and as program chair has provided the club with outstanding forums on current issues of interest to the media and community. Photo by William Greenblatt COURIER 4 Spring 2008 Joe Buck Royally Roasted and Toasted at Press Club Award Gala In the tradition of the Press Club’s media person of the year award galas, Joe Buck was honored with the first Jack Buck National Media Person of the Year Award on November 28th to a full ballroom of over 600 guests at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The event raised over $100,000 which will fund the club’s scholarship programs, media archives, and educational forums. Presenting sponsor of the event was Anheuser-Busch Companies. Charles Brennan, KMOX Radio, was the evening’s masterful MC. “On Air” announcements were provided by Bob Hamilton, also of KMOX Radio.
