The Essenes Calendar and the Last Days The Essenes Calendar and The Last Days The Greeks controlled Palestine/Israel from 323BC to 164BE when Judas Maccabees and his brethren revolted against the Greeks and defeated them. The Greeks had imposed their culture on Israel which caused many to leave the customs and traditions but worse than that they also imposed their Calendar upon the people. The Maccabees turned things around, but they did not return to God’s Calendar which had been used since the times of Adam and Eve. Then one of the Maccabean High Priests, John Hyrcanus I took the title of High Priest and King. That was forbidden and caused a deep split in the people. Those who felt that they needed to follow the High Priest no matter what he did or said were known as the Sadducees. These were the “ruling class” and they rejected certain doctrines as “resurrection, judgement for life, existence of angels”. The Jews who refused to follow John Hyrcanus I as High Priest were known as the Pharisees or “the Separated Ones”. They followed a strict, legalistic interpretation of the Law of Moses and the Teachings of the Rabbis. The Sadducees and Pharisees actually fought a War between them that lasted for 8 years from 96- 88BC. Everyone claimed to be the rightful rulers and kept trying to assassinate the leaders of the opposing party. Rome defeated the Jews in 135 and ruled from then on until they placed John Hyrcanus II into power. Civil order was still not restored so the Romans put Herod, an Idumean, as King in 37BC. Just before Judas Maccabeus became High Priest a group of Priest known as the Zadok (righteous) Priests left Jerusalem and took copies of all the Sacred Books and Writings with them to Qumran where their community flourished. John the Baptists father, Zachariah was a Zadok Priest and an Essene. John the Baptist was also an Essence and was listed as one of their Prophets and Head of the School of the Prophets there! The Essenes Calendar and The Last Days The Essenes were called the “Sons of Light” while the Pharisees were called the “Sons of Darkness”. The Essenes kept the Sacred Calendar and Holy Days according to Adam and up to Moses and King David, etc. They were able to come up with the exact year that The Messiah’s life would be taken from the Books of The Prophets and they believed that Jesus was that Messiah. They predicted his death from The Bible in 32AD! So, that was the world that Jesus was born into! The Jewish people today follow a hybrid calendar that was fixed in the 5th Century. It is not a “Solar Calendar” but a “Lunar Calendar” and so the days are all changed and the years have become corrupted too. They Jewish calendar states that 2021 is the year 5781AM (Anno Mundi – year of the world) while the Essence Calendar tells us it is the year 5946Am. There is a 165 year difference between them! The Essenes also, according to Biblical Interpretation said that the very last Jubilee, a 50 year period, will begin in 2025AD or, in their Calendar, 5950AM With a “Day like a Thousand Years” we see the 6 days of Creation prophetically being finished according to the Essenes Calendar around 6,000AM or 2075AD for us! This fits exactly with what I have been teaching for over 40 years! We are in the Last Days and Jesus is soon to return! .

Josephus As Political Philosopher: His Concept Of Kingship Abstract Scholars who have discussed Josephus’ political philosophy have largely focused on his concepts of aristokratia or theokratia. In general, they have ignored his concept of kingship. Those that have commented on it tend to dismiss Josephus as anti-monarchical and ascribe this to the biblical anti- monarchical tradition. To date, Josephus’ concept of kingship has not been treated as a significant component of his political philosophy. Through a close reading of Josephus’ longest text, the Jewish Antiquities, a historical work that provides extensive accounts of kings and kingship, I show that Josephus had a fully developed theory of monarchical government that drew on biblical and Greco- Roman models of kingship. Josephus held that ideal kingship was the responsible use of the personal power of one individual to advance the interests of the governed and maintain his and his subjects’ loyalty to Yahweh. The king relied primarily on a standard array of classical virtues to preserve social order in the kingdom, protect it from external threats, maintain his subjects’ quality of life, and provide them with a model for proper moral conduct.

An overview There are nearly 470 verses in our bible used to describe the form and furnishings of the Tabernacle and Temple. The bible gives a very specific plan for the building of the tabernacle. However, the temple is not outlined in detail. I Chron. 28:11‐19 does seem to indicate that the Lord gave David some sort of plan or model. The tabernacle was an ornate tent shrine that served the people of Israel for approximately 200 years until it was replaced by Solomon’s temple. This temple served as God’s home for approximately 400 years until the Babylonians destroyed it in 586 BC. When the Israelites returned from Babylon, Zerubbabel over saw the rebuilding of a much inferior temple in 520 BC. This building was damaged and repaired many times until Herod built his “renovation” in 19 BC. The Roman General, Titus destroyed this temple in 70AD. II.     The Maccabees Page 1 The Maccabees (Hasmoneans) HASMONEANS hazʹme-nēʹenz [Gk Asamomaios; Heb ḥašmônay]. In the broader sense the term Hasmonean refers to the whole “Maccabean” family. According to Josephus (Ant. xii.6.1 [265]), Mattathias, the first of the family to revolt against Antiochus IV’s demands, was the great-grandson of Hashman. This name may have derived from the Heb ḥašmān, perhaps meaning “fruitfulness,” “wealthy.” Hashman was a priest of the family of Joarib (cf. 1 Macc. 2:1; 1 Ch. 24:7). The narrower sense of the term Hasmonean has reference to the time of Israel’s independence beginning with Simon, Mattathias’s last surviving son, who in 142 B.C. gained independence from the Syrian control, and ending with Simon’s great-grandson Hyrcanus II, who submitted to the Roman general Pompey in 63 B.C. Remnants of the Hasmoneans continued until A.D. 100. I. Revolt of the Maccabees The Hasmonean name does not occur in the books of Maccabees, but appears in Josephus several times (Ant. xi.4.8 [111]; xii.6.1 [265]; xiv.16.4 [490f]; xv.11.4 [403]; xvi.7.1 [187]; xvii.7.3 [162]; xx.8.11 [190]; 10.3 [238]; 10.5 [247, 249]; BJ i.7 [19]; 1.3 [36]; Vita 1 [2, 4]) and once in the Mishnah (Middoth i.6). These references include the whole Maccabean family beginning with Mattathias. In 166 B.C. Mattathias, the aged priest in Modein, refused to obey the order of Antiochus IV’s envoy to sacrifice to the heathen gods, and instead slew the envoy and a Jew who was about to comply.

The Growth And Decay Of The Hasmonean Dynasty A. John Hyrcanus. 1. Although powerful enough to conquer Jerusalem, Syria offered rec- ognition to Hyrcanus on the condition that Hyrcanus consider him- self subject to Syria and promise to help in Syrian military cam- paigns. The Syrians left Palestine, and the Hellenizing party disap- peared from the Jewish political scene. 2. This change in political alignments is an important factor in the reign of Hyrcanus. The Maccabean struggle resulted in victory for the Hasidim, although the Hasidim did not completely align them- selves with the Maccabees. They were willing to stop short of politi- cal independence in their dealings with the Syrians. 3. In the subsequent history of the Hellenistic party, its ideals were perpetuated in the party of the Sadducees, and the ideals of the Hasidim were perpetuated in the party of the Pharisees. These par- ties are first mentioned during the lifetime of Hyrcanus. Before his death he repudiated the Pharisees and declared himself a Sad- ducee. 4. The rule of John Hyrcanus was one of territorial expansion. Al- though devout Jews frequently differed with his policies, his per- sonal life was free from suspicion.

Right at the beginning of Christianity, early Christians expected in the near future the return of Christ, which was associated with the end of the world, together with the Seventh Day of the Lord. Such a scenario ocurred already in the cosmic year Anno Mundi (AM) 6,000 based upon a teleological concept by interpreting the Bible. AM produced a calendrical end time with its year 6000 due to equating the Six Days of Genesis with the verse of the Bible saying one Day of the Lord was the same as 1000 years of mankind. To combat the end of the world fever caused by this time concept at the beginning of the 6th century Dionysius Exiguus created a new temporal hinge point for counting the years: Anno Domini. Obviously this chronology is not in harmony with ancient historical works, as even former Pope Benedict XVI recognized, but is an end time prophecy by interpreting the Gospel, the Apocalypse, the scientific cosmology of antiquity, and astronomical values.

    Chapter 5 – Date Luckily, most of the problems involving time have mostly been solved and packed away in software and hardware where we, and our customers overseas, do not have to deal with it. Thanks to standardization, if a vender in Peking wants to call a customer in Rome, he checks the Internet for the local time. As far as international business goes, it’s generally 24/7 anyway. Calendars on the other hand, are another matter. You may know what time it is in Khövsgöl, Mongolia, but are you sure what day it is, if it is a holiday, or even what year it is? The purpose of this chapter is to make you aware of just how many active calendars there are out there in current use and of the short comings of our Gregorian system as we try to apply it to the rest of the world. There just isn’t room to review them all so think of this as a kind of around the world in 80 days. There are so many different living calendars, and since the Internet is becoming our greatest library yet, a great many ancient ones that must be accounted for as well. We must consider them all in our collations. As I write this in 2010 by the Gregorian calendar, it is 2960 in Northwest Africa, 1727 in Ethopia, and 4710 by the Chinese calendar. A calendar is a symbol of identity. They fix important festivals and dates and help us share a common pacing in our lives. They are the most common framework a civilization or group of people can have.
