Venezuela Tours • Canaima National Park & Angel Falls Canaima National Park & Angel Falls 6 nights / 7 days DAY 1: CARACAS A guide will greet you upon arrival and will transfer you to your hotel for two nights’ accommodation. DAY 2: CARACAS Today you will join a full day city tour of Venezuela with a shared guide and transportation included as well as all entrance fees required. The morning starts with a well-planned tour to the city’s major historical sites including Simon Bolivar’s birth place and museum, the cathedral and Sacro Museum, the Consejo Municipal and the Avila Hills for a panoramic view of the city. After lunch you will visit the Quinta Anauco museum, one of the best in the city. DAY 3: CARACAS – PUERTO ORDAZ – CANAIMA NATIONAL PARK A guide will transfer you to the airport in time to check in for and to board your flight to Puerto Ordaz connecting with your flight to Canaima National Park. Upon arrival a guide will greet you and will transfer your Canaima lodge for three nights’ accommodation. After lunch you will embark on a guided excursion to Yuri Falls. Yuri Falls are located some 10km from the Canaima Lagoon by boat. En route the group will stop for a number of fantastic photo opportunities in the unique landscape. Your guide will point out interesting rock formations and other peculiarities found in Canaima. After a short 20 minute navigation you will arrive at a pier where the group will disembark and prepare for a short walk through the jungle. At the falls where you will have some free time for swimming and relaxing before returning to camp for dinner and overnight accommodations. DAY 4: CANAIMA NATIONAL PARK Today you will embark on a guided excursion to Angel Falls. At 4:30 in the morning you will depart the camp en route to Puerto Ucaima where you will once again board canoes for a 20 minute navigation down river. Upon arrival at the Mayupa Savanna your vehicles will be waiting for you for the 10 minute ride across the savanna and then on to Orquidea Island (1 hour away, approximately) where breakfast will be served. After breakfast you will navigate by boat on the Carrao River en route to the Churum River where you will travel 2 hours as the river winds through the Devil’s Canyon. From the river you will be able to catch your first glimpses of Angel Falls (weather permitting). As you make your way down river you will come to the Raton Island Camp from which you will be able to observe Angel Falls in all their majesty. An optional trek (medium – high difficulty) through dense jungle is available for those interested in observing the falls from a closer angle. After one hour of tough trekking you will arrive at the Laime Lookout Point where you will have the opportunity to rest and to observe the falls. Lunch will be served back at the Raton Island Camp. After lunch the group will begin to make its way back to Puerto Ucaima and on to your Canaima Camp for dinner and accommodations. En route you will stop at Sapo Falls (20 meters high, 120 meters wide) where you will have the opportunity to explore behind the falls, a favorite activity of visitors to the falls. DAY 5: CANAIMA NATIONAL PARK Today is at leisure for optional tours or to explore the area on your own. DAY 6: CANAIMA NATIONAL PARK – PUERTO ORDAZ – CARACAS A guide will transfer you the airport in time to check in for and to board your outbound flight. Please note: Extensions to include a trek to Mount Roraima, the inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World.
