2 Radiation Oncologists, Tom Baker Cancer Centre

The Tom Baker Cancer Centre (TBCC) in is seeking two (2) new Radiation Oncologists. One is a 1.0 FTE position with an emphasis in Pediatric Oncology and the other is a 0.9 FTE position. Demonstrated interest and experience with Sterotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), the CNS disease site and/or Patient Reported Outcomes will be an asset for either position. You will join an existing team of 20 Radiation Oncologists, several of whom work part time.

The TBCC is a full-service, academic cancer centre with 8 linear accelerators, orthovoltage and HDR capability. There are active gyne, prostate and breast brachytherapy programs. A new, full service, 109,000 m2 cancer centre with 15 linac vaults (12 to be filled at opening), an MRI-equipped brachytherapy suite, a PET/CT simulator and 160 inpatient beds, will be operational by 2023-24. TBCC includes the provincial Radiosurgery Centre and expanding programs for lung, liver and spine SBRT. In 2016, faculty provided 4521 consultations. There are close interdisciplinary working relationships with Medical, Surgical, Gynecologic, Hematologic and Psychosocial Oncology, Palliative Care, Medical Physics. Basic science faculty are appointed through the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute at the . A full complement of ancillary staff and services are available. Clinical trials and translational research programs are augmented by an annual, centre-specific, Investigator Initiated Trial grant competition. Inpatients are admitted under the Radiation Oncologist at the .

The University of Calgary’s Radiation Oncology Residency Training and post-residency fellowship programs compliment post-graduate training programs in Surgical, Medical, Gynecologic, Hematologic, Palliative and Psychosocial Oncology. There are opportunities to teach medical students, residents and fellows from a variety of disciplines.

Calgary is a growing city with a vibrant cultural scene and ready access to outdoor activities in Kananaskis Country (1 hour from TBCC) and Banff, Lake Louise and the Rockies (1.5 hours). For 10 days in July the whole city, including the cancer centre, gear up for Stampede.

Qualifications: You must have an MD degree and Canadian specialist certification in Radiation Oncology, or the equivalent. You must be eligible for licensure as a specialist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and for appointment to the medical staff of . The successful applicant will be expected to obtain an appointment within the Department of Oncology at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens or those with permanent resident status.

Compensation: Remuneration will depend on clinical experience and comply with the agreement between Cancer Control Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Medical Association.
