JOHN HENSON led Cleveland with a career-high-tying seven blocks in 16 minutes off the bench. His seven blocks were the most by a Cavaliers player since Zydrunas Ilgauskas on Feb. 23, 2005 (7 BLK vs. CHI). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Henson became the FIRST Cavs player since blocks were first tracked in 1973-74 to swat 7 or more shots in under 17 minutes of play. The last NBA player to record seven blocks in under 17 minutes was Bernard James of the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 22, 2013 at New Orleans (7 BLK in 15 minutes and 12 seconds of play).

EXUM’S BIG NIGHT: DANTE EXUM posted a career-high 28 points on 11-13 (.846) shooting, including a perfect 4-4 (1.000) from beyond the arc, in 24 minutes against Minnesota on Jan. 5. It was Exum’s 4th career 20-point performance. Exum scored 24 of his 28 points in the second half, going a perfect 9-9 from the field (4-4 3FG) over the final two periods. His 24 second-half points were the most he has recorded in any half of his NBA career, the most points in any half by a Cavs player this season and most in a half since LeBron James scored 35 in the second half at Philadelphia on April 6, 2018. In addition, Exum became the first Cavs player to make at least nine field goals without missing a shot in a single half since March 2013 (Marreese Speights, 10-10 FG in 1st half vs. NYK on March 4, 2013).

DELLY’S NINE DIMES IN 19 MINUTES: MATTHEW DELLAVEDOVA handed out a season-high nine assists in just 19 minutes off the bench against Detroit on Jan. 7. The last Cavalier to have that many assists and play less than 20 minutes in a game was Terrell Brandon, who also dished out nine assists in 19 minutes against the Pistons on Feb. 5, 1993.

Cleveland was only one three-pointer away from matching the franchise record for three-pointers in a single quarter that night (11 in 1Q vs. LAC on Jan. 31, 2010). Cleveland also had a season-high 32 assists on 44 field goals versus Milwaukee.

TRIO WITH 25+ POINTS APIECE: The Cavs overcame a five-point deficit (103-98) with 20.1 seconds remaining in regulation and defeated San Antonio 117-109 in overtime on Dec. 12. KEVIN LOVE (30 PTS), COLLIN SEXTON (28 PTS) and Jordan Clarkson (25 PTS) led the way and became the first Cavs trio to score 25+ points apiece since February 8, 2017 (Kyle Korver-29, Kyrie Irving-29, LeBron James-25). MOST REBOUNDS IN 5 YEARS: The Wine & Gold’s season-best 61 rebounds at Minnesota on Dec. 28 was their most in a game since pulling down 61 boards at Philadelphia on Feb. 18, 2014. Cleveland has had 60+ rebounds twice this season.

SO MUCH PAINT: During Cleveland’s win at Detroit on Jan. 9, the Cavs scored a season-high 70 points in the paint, their most since 1997-98 when play by play was first kept league wide (Elias Sports Bureau).

VICTORY #1: The Cavs picked up a 110-99 win in their 50th home opener on Oct. 26, securing JOHN BEILEIN’s first career victory as an NBA head coach. In the win, the Cavs shot 40-80 (.500) from the field, knocked down 11 three-pointers and handed out 23 assists. The Cavs also outscored the Pacers 39-20 in the 2nd quarter, which included a 26-4 run in that frame.

NEW FACES: The Cavaliers named JOHN BEILEIN as the 22nd head coach in franchise history this past offseason. Beilein was previously the head coach for the University of Michigan men’s basketball team for the past 12 seasons and has compiled a career record of 829-468 (.639) in over 40 years as a collegiate head coach. Beilein has recorded 20-plus win seasons on 23 occasions and has finished with a winning record in 35 seasons, placing him in the top 10 for career victories among active NCAA Division I head coaches. CHARGE DRAW EVEN WITH RAPTORS CANTON, OH – The Canton Charge (16-9) defeated the (10-15), 106-103, to draw even in a weekend two-game set at the Memorial Civic Center on Saturday night.

For the second-straight night, J.P. Macura led Canton in scoring with 26 points on 11-of-15 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range plus 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Levi Randolph also notched 26 points on 9-of-17 from the floor with five boards in 35 minutes. Sir’Dominic Pointer had an all-around game of 10 points, nine rebounds, four steals and a pair of blocks in 26 minutes. Sheldon Mac scored 13 points off the bench and Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman provided 11 points and two steals in 26 minutes of relief.

The game was closely contested throughout, featuring 19 lead changes, 13 ties and neither team holding a lead of more than seven points. The entire fourth quarter was a one possession game until Matt Mooney drilled a 31-foot step back jumper with 10.3 seconds remaining to put Canton in control 102-98. The two teams will meet for the rubber match on March 19th in Mississauga.

The Raptors 905 were paced by Tyler Ennis’ double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes. Justin Anderson also posted a double-double with his effort of 17 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes. Oshae Brissett scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 35 minutes. Former OSU great and NBA player Brad Sellers is back for his ninth year as postgame studio analyst.

Each broadcast on the Cavaliers Radio Network begins with “Huntington Tip-Off Show,” an inside look at the upcoming game. Hosted by Snyder, the show airs 30 minutes prior to game time. It is a comprehensive look at what is happening around the NBA, including interviews, highlights, game reports, injury updates and a preview of the Cavaliers game with Tim Alcorn while Jim Chones provides his Keys to the Game.

THE CAVALIERS ON LA MEGA 87.7 FM: Veteran broadcaster Rafael Hernández-Brito, known as Rafa "El Alcalde" (“The Mayor”), returns for his sixth season of bringing his high-energy play-by-play style to each of his Cleveland Cavaliers broadcasts. Prior to joining the Cavs, Rafa was the Spanish voice of Brooklyn Nets games for the franchise’s first two seasons. He also was the voice of the New Jersey Nets from 1997 to 2001 and called the action for St. John’s University men’s basketball during that same period. In 2018, Rafa became the first Spanish voice of the Cleveland Browns.

Nationally, his broadcasting experience includes eight years as the voice of NFL football for Spanish broadcasts of Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, the playoffs and Superbowl on Univision from 2005 to 2013. Hernández-Brito, who has worked 11 Super Bowls, was also the Spanish play-by-play voice of the Miami Dolphins and has handled the play-by-play for Major League Baseball, boxing and UFC. Rafa additionally covered the Soccer World Cups from 1998 to 2014. With the 2015 NBA Finals, he became the first broadcaster in the United States to call the Finals of all 3 major sports in Spanish. Rafa has been the Public Address Announcer and voice of legendary Azteca Stadium in Mexico City for NFL Mexico games since 2016. In March of 2017, he became the first broadcaster to call the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in Spanish for Westwood One.

Rafa finished high school at Locust Valley, N.Y. He went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering at Boston University, followed by a successful run working for Coors Brewing Co., where his buoyant personality made him a natural in sales and marketing. Nonetheless, he chose to follow his passion for sports and broadcasting.

Hernández-Brito served as sports director at Univision Radio from 2005 to 2013, where he was also the host/ringleader of “Locura Deportiva”, Univision Radio’s most successful sports program, presiding over candid, colorful, often comical discussions on the topics of the day as “El Alcalde” (“The Mayor”). He was also the creator and longtime host of “El Garaje de AutoZone,” a Saturday morning automotive show perhaps best described as a Spanish-language version of the immensely popular NPR program “Car Talk."

Rafa’s path to the booth is an American dream.
