TIPOFF * Southland Conference Game >> The New Orleans women’s basketball program will look to turn the page after four consecutive losses to begin Southland Conference play this season. The Privateers dropped their most recent contest, 67-56, to host Nicholls at the David R. Stopher Gymnasium this past Saturday. Playing in her hometown for the final time in a New Orleans uniform, senior DIONJHAE THOMAS had one of the best performances of her career as she set a new career high with 20 points and eight assists. It is the first time in 88 career games that the Thibodaux native broke the 20-point plateau. She also chipped in two steals. Sophomore guard MIA DECK was the only other Privateer to finish in double figures as she registered 12 points to go with an assist and a steal. It is the second straight game that the sharpshooter has posted a double-digit scoring output and sixth contest in double figures overall on the season. COVERAGE INFORMATION >> Tonight’s meeting is against familiar foes as this will be the 23rd matchup between the two Southland programs TELEVISION N/A in their respective school history. The series is one that has gone back and forth in recent years and New Orleans Play-by-Play - has captured the past four matchups in a row against Northwestern State. This broke a trend that favored the Lady Demons as Northwestern State won eight of the ten showdowns between the two sides that took place Color - between 2012 through 2018. LOOKING TO LEADERS TO CARRY THE LOAD CLASSIFICATION >> As the Privateers have battled through adversity this season, Coach Seniors 2 Duncantell, Thomas Davenport has leaned on three student-athletes to help carry the Juniors 2 Gipson, Randle load; DIONJHAE THOMAS, MIA DECK and JADA DUNCANTELL. All Sophomores 2 Deck, Delgado three players are near the tops in the Southland in minutes played as Freshman 8 Carlson, Cooper, Cordis, Davis, Dianis, Ellis, Richardson, West Thomas has recorded 30.5 minutes per game (7th in the SLC), Deck has chipped in 29.4 (10th) and Duncantell has added 26.8 (22nd).
