2020 ACC Team No. 14 FSU Looks to Utilize Youth for ACCs • After three diving events at ACCs, the Seminoles have 127 points - which was the second highest total, trailing only Miami. The Seminoles also made a run at NCAAs behind three All-American relays, Scott Pekarske Free/Fly Fr. Texas is the only school that has more ranked inside the top 50, with six. Ksiazek lowered his school record at the 2019 Georgia Tech Invite, clocking 1:33.89 - becoming the first Seminole under 1:34. • Both the 200 free and 800 free relay are the longest podium droughts for the Noles – Kyle Young was the last medalist in the 200 free back in 2007 with silver at 1:37.05. The 800 free 2019-20 Facts & Results relay last took bronze in 2010. RECORD -6-3, 2-1 ACC RANKING - No. 14 - Final CSCAA POLL • Freshmen have helped the Noles improve in the 200 free, 500 free, 1650 free and 400 IM drastically this season. Oct. 4 at No. 12 Notre Dame L, 129-171 Oct. 12 Duke W, 153-147 • Aziz Ghaffari posted a time of 4:18.38 in the 500 free at the GT Invite, which was the fastest Oct. 18 RV Minnesota W, 197-103 swim since Mateo De Angulo clocked a time of 4:15.43 at the 2011 GT Invite. His swim was Oct. 26 at RV Georgia Tech W, 160-140 the third fastest in school history behind Kyle Young (2009 – 4:14.60) and De Angulo. All three Nov. 8 at No. 9 Florida L, 107-188 swimmers and Kevin Rogers (4:19.56) are the only four Noles to break 4:20 in the race in school Nov. 9 Florida Southern W, 207-74 history. Nov. 22-24 GT Invite First Place Jan. 11 RV Alabama L, 138-156 • Ghaffari (1:34.79) and Varjasi (1:34.78) are among the two of the top five on the team in the Jan. 17 at RV LSU W, 153-145 200 free Jan. 25 FAU W, 247-53 Feb. 7-9 Auburn Invite • Rookie Nick Vance holds the top time on the team in the 400 IM (3:50.48) and Scott Pekarske is the Noles’ top distance swimmer, despite not competing at the GT Invite.
