Community-Wide Emergency: Help The Hebrew Free Burial Association In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and its massive impact on New York’s Jewish community, the HFBA is busier than ever. Since April 1, they have conducted more than 134 burials. Last year, in the same period of time, the did 30 burials. This increase in volume of burials has created a critical fiscal emergency and the HFBA is currently facing a $650,000 shortfall.
