Water flow begins: • Water flow sensor sends pulses to the PCB. Incoming Air Exhaust • When flow exceeds approximately *0.4 gpm the ignition sequence begins. 2. Ignition Sequence: • Combustion fan starts, drawing air in from the venting and through the unit. Combustion Fan • Spark igniter begins sparking. SV2 SV1 SV3 • Gas control assembly opens to the low fire rate. • When the flame rods have proven flame the spark igniter stops sparking. 3. Normal Operation: Igniter • PCB monitors flame rods, TC Sensor, flame characteristic, fan motor frequency, outlet TC Sensor FR water temperature, temperature set point, and water flow rate. • Gas valve assembly and fan speed modulate gas and air input to meet user demand. • If water flow demand is very small, only SV1 will allow gas to burner. The flame rod Primary Heat Exchanger (FR) will monitor this minimum fire state. Heat Exchanger • If water flow demand is large, flame can develop across the entire burner. Modulating Thermistor Gas Valve/POV • Water is preheated in the secondary (latent) heat exchanger. • Water is heated further as it passes through the heat exchanger multiple times. • Heat exchanger can strategically overheat the water while the bypass tempers the Secondary Heat Exchanger water down to the set point temperature. This can provide for higher flow rates. • The water flow control valve will adjust as needed to maintain output temperature. • Due to the efficient combustion, condensation will form and drain into the condensate trap and through drain at the bottom of the unit. Bypass Trap 4. Shut-down Sequence: PCB PCB Surge / Protector Condensate Condensate • PCB senses flow rate less than *0.26 gpm. • Gas control valve closes & water flow control valve resets to a standby position. • Combustion fan will then run for a period of time to purge the combustion chamber. SV0 or SV Main Out going 5. Standby Mode: Temperature Water Flow Water flow Thermistor Sensor control valve • PCB monitors all components. * Model Dependent Enhancing Lives By Changing The Way Water Is Heated © 2014 Rinnai America Corporation PROPRIETARY and CONFIDENTIAL 14 10/30/17 TANKLESS RACK SYSTEM Advantages System Design Enhancing Lives By Changing The Way Water Is Heated © 2014 Rinnai America Corporation PROPRIETARY and CONFIDENTIAL 15 10/30/17 TRS Advantages A single, self contained system consisting of multiple tankless units which replaces one larger heat source. The description of a gas products ability to modulate its flame and btu delivery Modulation is defined by Turndown Ratio Turndown Ratio: A products maximum fuel input divided by its minimum fuel input. Example: A 1,000,000 btu modulating boiler with a minimum fuel input of 250,000 btu’s would have turndown ratio of 4:1 1,000,000 divided by 250,000 = 4:1 Turn Down Ratio Enhancing Lives By Changing The Way Water

  • Sumi TRUST Monthly Commentary February 2014
SuMi TRUST Monthly Commentary February 2014 Key Points 1. Asian Economic Outlook (p1) The Asian economies are entering into a moderate growth phase after a period of rapid growth. China’s era of double digit growth has come to an end whilst Japan has finally come out of two decades of deflation. ASEAN nations still show potential for high growth, but are temporarily facing headwinds due to shifts in global money flows and the political turmoil in Thailand. Yet, there have been no changes to their advantages; namely a rich young labor force and an increase in income which will boost consumption. 2. Japanese companies’ Asian expansion (p.1) Over 15,500 Japanese companies have expanded their operations to Asia and total direct investment assets have exceeded JPY 24.9 trillion which is more than that invested in the US. This is the proof that there are many Japanese companies which see growth opportunities in Asia. 3. Our Focus: Rinnai (5947) (p.2-3) Rinnai, a gas cooker and hot-water heater manufacturer, is enjoying tailwinds both domestically and abroad. In Japan, the electricity fee hike has weakened demand for adopting all-electric houses. Hence, demand for gas cookers and hot-water heaters has increased. In developing countries, gasification policy is preferred to restrain oil consumption. In Indonesia, Rinnai already enjoys 60% share of the gas cooker market. 4. Japanese Equity Market in January (p.4) The Japanese equity market fell by 6% in January due to unexpectedly low employment data in the US, China’s slowdown and emerging market currency fluctuation.
