www.LiveWaterProperties.com Lord Ranch on Trout Creek- Excellent Fishing & Hunting Ranch Location: Located on the scenic byway, Skalkaho Highway, 10 minutes south of the charming mountain town of Philipsburg is the Lord Ranch on Trout Creek. The ranch borders the Deerlodge National Forest and is in the foothills of the Anaconda Mountain Range. Georgetown Lake lies less than a mile east. Philipsburg is the county seat of Granite County and is named for mining engineer Philip Deidesheimer, who platted the town site near gold and silver mines in 1867. Dining, shopping and everyday amenities are available in Phillipsburg. Riddick Field, a public airport with a paved 3,600 foot runway, is nearby for convenience. The cultural center of Missoula, home to the University of Montana, is an hour northwest. Butte, Montana, lies approximately 40 minutes to the east. Both of these communities have a rich history and offer shopping, fine dining and commercial air service.

Ranch Acreage & Operation: The 2,691.7-acre Lord Ranch is an ideal mix of creek bottom, rolling grass land, sloping pivot-irrigated hay fields and timbered ridges. The Lord Ranch offers habitat conducive for yearlings, and it would be possible to run a cow-calf operation with approximately 150 cows per year. History: The county seat of Granite County, Philipsburg has a rich history in mining and ranching. The roots of the area started as a booming mining town in the late 1800s. Its historic downtown is full of beautifully restored buildings. Today these buildings are occupied with friendly shops, saloons, and other enjoyable establishments. The dam that flooded Georgetown Flats and created Georgetown Lake commenced in the early 1890s, and was completed in 1901. Wooden flumes carried the water down the canyon to the powerhouse, which generated electricity with water wheels. Georgetown Lake is a popular recreational destination for residents of Butte, Anaconda and Philipsburg. Wildlife and Hunting: When autumn arrives, Montana prepares for hunting. Philipsburg is known for its wide array of big game. One of the most sought-after hunts the world over is that of the Bighorn sheep. Nearby Rock Creek is home to many of these spectacular animals. Licenses are available by lottery.

Along with the varied terrain and habitat comes an incredible diversity of wildlife. Many species of big game animals can be found on the ranch and the surrounding national forest. An incoming owner can expect excellent big game hunting opportunities for elk, Mule deer and Whitetail deer, Black bear, mountain lion and Pronghorn antelope. The ranch is outfitted commercially for deer and elk and generates income for each harvested animal. This area and the ranch specifically offer great potential for trophy quality elk and Whitetail deer.
