Love and Chastity True Love for All of Us We all have a deep need for love – we want to be accepted for who we are, unconditionally. As baptized Christians, we are sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. God, who is Love, wants us to live forever with Him in full and perfect love. Chastity is about how to love well as a man or as a woman. As human beings, we’re both body and soul, so chastity isn’t just about physical actions, it’s about how we love in every aspect of our lives. Everyone is called to live chastely whether they’re single, married, or religious. Chastity is not just about what we do, or don’t do, but also what we say, think, wear, watch listen to, and read. While practicing chastity does require saying “no” to some things, it is actually a much bigger “yes” to love and the life God has planned for us. Chastity is not about our past choices. It is about the present and the future. If we have made mistakes, we may need to learn from them and work through some consequences. However, regardless of whether we’ve made past mistakes, chastity can start today, and continue for the rest of our lives. See www.chastityproject.com to learn more, but remember the basics: commit to living and loving as we’re designed to do; seek the sacramental grace of Confession if a mistake is made (receive it regularly, regardless); after doing so, let the past go (God has forgiven you, so make sure you forgive yourself); and go forward, knowing that God is walking with you along this journey! Happy Valentine’s Day! Excerpts from USCCB Respect Life Program statements. PRAYER AND WORSHIP February 14, 2016 Mass Intentions Pray for the Sick. Exegesis of the Gospel, Lk 4:1–13 1) Three temptations . The story of Jesus being tempted by the devil makes several important theological points. First, Jesus is the Spirit-empowered Son of God.
