THE NEWSLETTER OF THE CRANFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE FRIENDS OF THE CRANFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2020 FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY USED BOOK SALE The Friends of the Cranford Public Library invite you to visit their used book sale on Thursday, January 9, 1:00 pm to 8:30 pm, Friday, January 10, 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturday, January 11, 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Items for sale include more than 10,000 adult and children’s books, as well as CDs, DVDs, and recorded books. Prices range from $.25 to $2.00, except for a few specially marked items. On Saturday, fill a bag with books for just $8.00. Enter through the side door. CONCERT: FLUTIST GALEN ABDUR-RAZZAQ In a one-night-only appearance on Monday, February 3 at 7:00 pm, master flutist Galen Abdur-Razzaq will join us for a lecture and performance: “Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement.” Our guest will discuss and perform jazz pieces by artists who contributed to the formation and progress of the civil rights movement. Born in Montclair, NJ, Galen has performed domestically and internationally for over 30 years, traveling to universities, concert halls, festivals, and libraries around the globe. CONCERT: THE ODESSA KLEZMER BAND We hope you’ll join us for this energetic evening of entertainment on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:00 pm! Under the direction of bandleader, accordionist, and vocalist Ed Goldberg, the Odessa Klezmer Band has played the joyous dance music of the Klezmorim (Jewish folk musicians) throughout the tri-state area for over 30 years.
