Recommended Residency Rotations/Electives for 4th year from ULSOM Program Directors Anesthesiology 2 weeks – EKG 2 weeks – Radiology 4 weeks – Cardiology 4 weeks – Emergency Medicine 2 weeks – Pulmonary/Critical Care, Geriatrics or Pulm Consult Dermatology Dermatology-UL Infectious Diseases, Adult and Peds Allergy Surgical Oncology Plastic Surgery Emergency Medicine 4 weeks – AI-Adult ER-UL 4 weeks – ICU medicine or surgery or 2 weeks of each 4 - 8 weeks – off campus 2 weeks – Pediatric ER 2 weeks – Radiology, Anesthesiology 2 weeks – ER Boot Camp 2 weeks – Orthopedic surgery, Neurology or Ophthalmology Family Medicine 4 weeks – AI Family Medicine Family Medicine Bootcamp Geriatrics Sports Medicine EKG Radiology Internal Medicine 4 weeks – AI/IM 2 weeks, Practical Internal Medicine 10 weeks of IM subspecialty electives, if not taken in the 3rd year clerkship, Cardiology, Endocrinology, ID, Pulm Consult, Hem/Onc, Nephrology, GI Recommended for remaining electives- allergy, dermatology, sports medicine, radiology, ophthalmology, out-patient gynecology, urology, emergency medicine, EKG Med/Peds 4 weeks – AI, Medicine or Pediatrics 2 weeks – ICU, opposite discipline of AI 2 weeks Peds subspecialty – ID, Pulmonary, Nephrology, Hem/Onc, GI 2 weeks IM subspecialty – ID, Pulmonary, Nephrology, Cardiology, GI Either Practical Peds or IM bootcamp Encourage LAR experience for ambulatory rotation if interested in primary care Neurology Neurology 911, 912, 913, 918 Neurosurgery 4 weeks AI Neurosurgery 2 weeks Neurology 2 weeks Ophthalmology 2 weeks Orthopedic Surgery or Urology OB/GYN 4 weeks – AI Labor & Delivery 4 weeks – Gynecological Surgery 4 weeks – Outpatient/clinic 2 weeks – NICU 3 weeks – OB Milestone REI, Uro-Gyn, Gyn-Onc Ophthalmology 4 weeks each of Opht-910, 911, 914 4-8 weeks Off campus electives Orthopedic Surgery Recommend speaking directly to Residency Program Director Otolaryngology 4 weeks – AI Otol-911 4 weeks – Anesthesiology 2 weeks – Radiology 2 weeks – Plastic Surgery 2 weeks – ICU Emergency Medicine Pathology Clinical area that have high use of Anatomic & Clinical Pathology – particular emphasis ID, GI, Dermatology, OB, Hem/Onc, or any medicine or surgery subspecialties Pediatrics 4 weeks – AI 2 weeks – ICU – PICU or NICU 4 weeks – Practical Pediatrics 2 or 4 weeks – Peds ER 2 weeks – Radiology 2 or 4 weeks – ID, Cardiology, Pulmonary, Endocrinology, Hem/Onc, Neurology, Allergy, Nephrolog, or Home of the Innocents Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation 4 weeks UL PM&R Additional 4 week electives should be sought in outpatient musculoskeletal clinic such as sports medicine, orthopedics. Inpatient rotations on Neurology/stroke, orthopedics or Neurosurgery.
