A nine-dart finish is a perfect leg in the game of darts, using only nine darts, the fewest possible, to checkout from 501. It is notoriously difficult to achieve, even by the game's top professionals. It is considered to be the highest single- game achievement in the sport, similar to a maximum 147 break in snooker or a 300-point game in bowling. Phil Taylor has achieved this feat more than any other darts player on television having done so 11 times. On 2 January 2016 in the semi finals of the 2016 PDC World Darts Championship, Gary Anderson hit a nine-dart finish to defeat Jelle Klaasen 6-0 to reach his 3rd major final. He would then go on to defeat Adrian Lewis 7–5 in the final to retain his title and become only the 4th person to successfully retain his title after winning it for the first time. How would you do it? You have 9 darts to get from 501 to 0. Remember you must finish on a double or a bulls-eye. Task Four. A player “checks out” when they get down to exactly 0 with their last three darts. What is the highest number that a player can “check out” with, using the three darts? Remember the player must finish with the last dart on a double or a bulls-eye. Task Five. How many numbers below 170 do not allow players to “check out” on? These are called “bogey numbers”. Remember for players to “check out” on they must score a double or a bull’s eye with their last dart. Set up a table like this and see if you can complete it!. 170 20x3, 20x3, 50x1 169 Bogey number 168 Bogey number 167 166 165 164 163 162 161 159 158 157 156 155 154 153 152 151 150 When you have finished and got all the answers correct show them to your Teacher and you will get today’s clue for the treasure hunt. Put all the week’s clues together and you can then work out where this week’s treasure is. Go looking for it !!! Good luck!! .
