FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3/31/20 NFL CLUBS APPROVE EXPANSION OF POSTSEASON 14 TEAMS TO QUALIFY FOR PLAYOFFS BEGINNING WITH 2020 SEASON – ONE ADDITIONAL WILD CARD TEAM ADDED IN EACH CONFERENCE CBS, NBC TO BROADCAST ADDITIONAL WILD CARD GAME NFL clubs voted today to expand the postseason by two teams beginning with the 2020 season. Expanding the NFL postseason was addressed in the new NFL-NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Players and clubs both recognized that nothing energizes fans like the chance to see their team qualify for the playoffs and compete for the Super Bowl. Today’s vote during a league meeting held remotely follows the recommendation of the Competition Committee, Management Council Executive Committee and Media Committee on increasing the number of playoff teams from 12 to 14. Two additional Wild Card teams – one each in the American and National Football Conferences – will qualify for the playoffs. The No. 1 seed in each conference will receive a bye in the Wild Card round. The remaining division champions in each conference with the best records will be seeded 2, 3, and 4, followed by the next three teams per conference with the best records seeded 5, 6, and 7. AFC and NFC Wild Card games will feature the 2 seed hosting the 7 seed, the 3 seed hosting the 6 seed and the 4 seed hosting the 5 seed. Wild Card Weekend for the 2020 season will consist of three games on Saturday, January 9, and three games on Sunday, January 10, 2021. CBS will broadcast one additional Wild Card game on January 10 with kickoff at approximately 4:40 p.m.

Dec. 19, 2017 For Immediate Release Four Raiders Selected to 2018 Pro Bowl ALAMEDA, Calif. – Oakland Raiders C Rodney Hudson, DE Khalil Mack, G/T Kelechi Osemele and T Donald Penn have been named to the 2018 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced Tuesday. LB NaVorro Bowman, QB Derek Carr, G Gabe Jackson, P Marquette King, RB Marshawn Lynch and WR Cordarrelle Patterson (return specialist) were named as alternates for the annual all-star game, scheduled to be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 28, 2018. Mack has been selected to his third consecutive Pro Bowl after earning the honor in 2015 and 2016 as well. He has started all 14 games this season and has recorded 77 tackles (56 solo), a team-leading 10.5 sacks (75.5 yards), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and a career-high five passes defensed. Mack has notched two multi-sack performances in 2017, and is currently on a five-game sack streak, the longest active streak in the NFL. While his 10.5 sacks on the year rank ninth in the league, his six since Week 11 are tied for the most in the NFL. With his most recent two-sack performance in Week 15, Mack has now totaled double-digit sacks for the third consecutive season, becoming just the fifth Raider in club history to accomplish the feat since sacks became an official stat in 1982. Additionally, Mack is one of just three defenders league wide to do so in each of the last three seasons. Hudson, Osemele and Penn anchor one of the most dominant offensive lines in the league.

The addition of a third Wild Card team in each conference this season and the subsequent expansion of the playoffs has resulted in a Super Wild Card Weekend of NFL action. For the first time ever, there will be three games on Saturday, January 9, and three games on Sunday, January 10, to be played at 1:05 p.m., 4:40 p.m., and 8:15 p.m. ET on each day. The postseason kicks off Saturday on the heels of the highest-scoring regular season in NFL history, packed with more points (12,692) and touchdowns (1,473) than any of the league’s previous 100 years. All told, 179 of 256 games – 70 percent – were within one score (eight points) in the fourth quarter, more games than all but one season in league annals (184 in 2016). And no lead was safe, as winning teams combined to erase deficits of 10-or-more points in 43 games, tying a single-season league record. Steady, dangerous teams led by consistent veterans, young and on-the-rise clubs guided by sensational newcomers, they all have seats at the table. The longtime NFL stars added an achievement that will without a doubt move to the top of their accolade-filled biographies when they were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame inAugust, 2014. Jones and Brooks became the first pair of first-ballot Hall of Famers from the same class who attended the same college in over 40 years. The pair’s journey together started 20 years ago. Just as Brooks was wrapping up his All-America career at Florida State in 1994, Jones was joining the Seminoles out of Holmes Community College (Miss.) for the 1995 season. Revised July 2014 APPENDIX B CHAMPIONSHIP DETERMINATION The Colonial League for Interscholastic Sports, Inc. is composed of 13 PIAA District XI high schools. The 13 full members are Bangor, Catasauqua, Moravian Academy, Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Notre Dame-Green Pond, Palisades, Palmerton, Pen Argyl, Salisbury, Saucon Valley, Southern Lehigh and Wilson. Championships in the sports of cross country, football and track and field will be decided in a one-division (whole league) format. Championships in the sports of baseball, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls tennis, golf, field hockey, softball and wrestling will be determined utilizing a two division/ wild card tournament format. Championships in the sports of boys and girls soccer and volleyball will be determined utilizing a one division/ wild card tournament format. All Colonial League for Interscholastic Sports, Inc. member schools are required to compete in the top three PIAA classifications in all participating league-sponsored sports.
