Gerald and Terry were split up at the senior high school level, with Gerald attending Withrow and Terry at Hughes, and then again at the college level, with Terry attending Central State and Gerald at Shaw University. Their quest to sing together continued after' college with "The Mystics", a group managed by Don Cornelius of Soul Train. From there, Gerald and Terry determined, "the g~oup already has too many self traveled from Cincinnati to Los Angeles as destructive properties to last more than a few singing members of the famed "Soul Train Gang". years," and left to start again saying, "If eventually Vocal chord nodules however were to take the I must start over, then, the sooner the better". So, edge from Terry's voice, leaving Gerald (with the with a long line of experiences (live and recorded) folding of Soul Train Records) to start anew. he has done just that. His June, 1981 release of The first opportunity to come along for Gerald the song, "Good Morning Sun", marked his first was not a solo career as had been prompted by attempt at writing, arranging, producing and new company owner Dick Griffey, but, lead recording as a solo artist. vocalist of the pop group Shalamar. Even though New releases are on the way, and with them the group was on a rapid rise to notoriety, Gerald Gerald's hope for continued success.
