SPECIAL GUEST - GERALD BROWN

From its inception, Gerald Brown's musical career has had two directions: one as a solo performer, starting as a talent show winner at Burdett Elementary with his pantomine of Jackie ' Wilson's "Lonely Teardrops", and as a group singer beginning with "The Versatile Five" at Samuel Ach Junior High with his brother Terry. Gerald and Terry were split up at the senior high school level, with Gerald attending Withrow and Terry at Hughes, and then again at the college level, with Terry attending Central State and Gerald at Shaw University. Their quest to sing together continued after' college with "The Mystics", a group managed by Don Cornelius of Soul Train. From there, Gerald and Terry determined, "the g~oup already has too many self traveled from Cincinnati to Los Angeles as destructive properties to last more than a few singing members of the famed "Soul Train Gang". years," and left to start again saying, "If eventually Vocal chord nodules however were to take the I must start over, then, the sooner the better". So, edge from Terry's voice, leaving Gerald (with the with a long line of experiences (live and recorded) folding of Soul Train Records) to start anew. he has done just that. His June, 1981 release of The first opportunity to come along for Gerald the song, "Good Morning Sun", marked his first was not a solo career as had been prompted by attempt at writing, arranging, producing and new company owner Dick Griffey, but, lead recording as a solo artist. vocalist of the pop group Shalamar. Even though New releases are on the way, and with them the group was on a rapid rise to notoriety, Gerald Gerald's hope for continued success. PARKERS

-MASTER OF CEREMONIES ------LESLIE GAINES, JR. He has been called a fighter for his people, a dynamic and controversial defense attorney who will put out his very best effort in the interests of his clients. A partner with his wife, Deborah, in the noted law firm Gaines & Gaines, Leslie Isaiah Gaines Jr. has dedicated his life to advocacy and justice. In a period when eloquence and dynamic flair seem on the wane, Gaines has shown an unusual ability at public speaking wherein his wit interlaced with poetic wisdom, has made him one of the most sought after speakers of this decade. Attorney Gaines is a well recognized speaker whose powerful messages and compelling, fiery sermon-like lectures have been delivered at colleges, univesities and banquets at all occasions. His popularity as a public speaker has launched a heavy demand for his "words of wisdom" via a weekly program, recordings, and a nationally syndicated column. He is truly "a voice with a message for the '80's". . -MISTRESS OF CEREMONIES ------MARSHA

ROBINSON , Marsha Robinson is the smooth, sultry voice heard weekdays over WCIN/1480. Her delightful 'wit and sparkling personality have won her devoted legions of fans throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area with her show, "Ebony Sunrise". She is the first female to host the morning drive kick-off for WCIN/Your Community Connection. The Withrow High School grad first sat behind the microphone ten years ago. It was just a hobby then, as she was beginning to pursue a teaching career in the school system. But her growing popularity in area clubs led her to enrolling in the Columbia School of Broadcasting, and announcing became a professional pursuit. She celebrates her second anniversary with WCIN this month. A single Taurus, Marsha enjoys travel, tennis, weightlifting, fashion, pool and reading. She also enjoys cooking, an interest she shares with her daughter, Annette Patrice. In addition, Marsha is involved with several community organizations and activities.
