Our school has a strong history and partnership working with students, parents and staff to foster positive learning outcomes for children to create an environment that is safe, happy and engaging for all. At St Anthony’s we offer a number of extra-curricula activities such as football, netball, soccer, basketball, t-ball and cricket. At Year Four and Five children are offered carnivals in netball, touch, and football, athletics and swimming. Being a small school we know all the students and are like one big family being able to cater for each child’s individual needs. We believe that each child is different and therefore in our educational programs we cater for differentiation in learning. We offer quality Out of Hours and Vacation Care as a service to our community and make sure that this is of the highest quality. Once again as we know the children in our care we are able to provide quality care with staff that know and understand our children and their needs. Your child is precious to us and we want to make a difference. Quality Teaching = Quality Learning Annual Report 2014 7 St Anthony’s Annual Report 2014 These statements qualify our Cartoon Statement around what is Quality Teaching What is a Learning Intention? It is a statement which describes clearly what the teacher wants the students to know, understand and be able to do. What does Success Criteria mean? Students are able to evaluate their progress while in the process of completing an assessment task. Teachers are able to provide feedback/feedforward which students can act upon in order to improve their work. What is the difference between Feedback/ Feedforward ? Feedback is when we offer advice about student’s work which incorporates reference to what has been done well, feedforward is what still needs to be done in order to achieve, and advice on how to achieve that. Annual Report 2014 8 St Anthony’s Annual Report 2014 What is Goal Setting? Differentiated and individual learning goals are set, reflected upon, modified and changed in order to improve teaching and learning. What type of Assessment is used? Assessment is both formative and summative. Formative assessment is ‘for learning’ this occurs during the learning. Summative assessment ‘of learning’, occurs at the end of a teaching concept in order give feedback on the learning achieved. Learner Qualities At the end of 2014 our teaching staff developed 6 learner quality words to begin to develop a whole school language and build the learner capacity in each student .
