Pair with a spicy/salty Gorgonzola Picante cheese! *2013 Grupo Yllera "Cuvi Roble", V.T. Castilla y León, Spain – (100% Tempranillo) Muted aromas of red berry fruits with a touch of vanilla from the 6 months in American Oak. Medium bodied with a touch of liquorice and spice. Easy drinking elegant and round with refined tannins. Pair with a young Manchego! *2014 Ch. de Coing Muscadet Sevre et Maine "Coing de Sevre" Sur Lie, Loire, France - The perfect pairing for oysters and seafood, Muscadet is the most famous expression of the grape Melon de Bourgogne. Citrus and green apple flavors with a certain richness from aging on the fine lees (sur lie) it finishes dry and crisp with a touch of salinity. Ripe fruit notes of plums and violets with a touch of coffee; this is a warm and spicy wine that’s easy and pleasant to drink finishing with a bit of zing from the refreshing tannins. A great match for Cypress Grove Midnight Moon, the wine highlights the nuttiness of the cheese, and the cheese highlights the freshness of the wine! NV Can Xa Cava Rose, Penedes, Spain - Made in the traditional Methode Champenoise process from 100% Pinot Noir and aged a minimum of nine months on the lees. Elegantly structured with juicy red currant, raspberries, a touch of almond and bread crust. Dry and piquant with fine bubbles on a toasty finish. Bubbles beg for richness. Get that (and earthy flavor) by enjoying this wine with Brillat Savarin, a triple crème Brie. 2013 Luis Pato Colheita Selecionada, Beira Atlantico, Portugal - (70% Baga, 30% Touriga Nacional) Baking cherries and red raspberries with hints of pepper and earth. This is slightly reminiscent of cru Beaujolais; finishing elegant and smooth. A good wine for the Thanksgiving table. Baga tends to be tannic. Soften it up with some Poacher’s Cheddar…the sweetness of the caramelized onions will balance it. 2015 St. Paul's Schiava Rosso, Alto Adige, Italy - Aromas of red cherry and wildflower mark this bright, elegant red. The easy-drinking palate offers crushed cherry, strawberry, orange zest and a hint of white almond alongside refreshing acidity and ultrafine smooth-to-none tannins. Get funky…try with Taleggio. 2015 Chateau de Vaux Blanc "Les Gryphees", Moselle, France - (30% Auxerrois 30% Muller Thurgau 30% Pinot Gris 10% Gewürztraminer) – A classic field blend from a tiny AOC (just 100 acres) tucked up in the northeast corner of France, just over the mountains from Alsace. Notes of peaches and white flowers on the nose, followed on the palate with ripe fruit and a fine mineral finish. A good white wine for turkey! This fantastically aromatic blend of grapes will cozy right up to the smooth blue stylings of Cambozola. USE YOUR 6 BOTTLE WINE BAGS FROM OTHER STORES AND SAVE 10% (on six bottles). • 2020 Domaine Descroix Beaujolais Nouveau France – Burgundy – Beaujolais AOC
KYSELA PERE et FILS, LTD. www.kysela.com 2020 Domaine Descroix Beaujolais Nouveau France – Burgundy – Beaujolais AOC ABOUT DOMAINE DESCROIX Domaine Descroix is a fourth-generation family winery, founded in 1905 & currently owned by Xavier Descroix. The winery is located in the village of Lantignié, north of Beaujolais, right next to Beaujeu (the historic capital for which the Beaujolais region is named). The vineyards measures 11.27 hectares total (27.84 acres), with 9.75 hectares in Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages AOC, and small parcels of Brouilly, Morgon, Beaujolais Villages Blanc & Bourgogne Blanc. The Beaujolais vineyards are in Beaujeu and Lantignié, where the soils are made of granite and sand, resulting in fruity wines with character. ABOUT THE WINE Nouveau originated about a century ago as a 'vin de l'année' - a cheap and cheerful drink produced by locals to celebrate the end of the harvest season. The Beaujolais AOC was established in 1937, and after WWII, the wine was sold outside of the area. By the 1970's, Beaujolais Nouveau day was a national event. We celebrate the wine’s release on the 3rd Thursday in November, just weeks after the grapes have been harvested. Today Beaujolais Nouveau accounts for 30% of Beaujolais’ production. Beaujolais exports to the US started to increase in 2015 & have continued steadily over the past few years. Beaujolais has experienced a renewal of sorts, with an increase in quality and diversity, as well as organic farming & interest from younger generations. The United States is the second largest importer of Beaujolais Nouveau at nearly 150,000 cases, which accounts for more than 15% of the region’s total exports and almost 8% of the 20 million cases produced.

  • Poe Producer Profile
POE SONOMA Samantha Sheehan founded POE in 2009 after being inspired by the wines she tasted in Burgundy and Champagne. The goal is not to replicate Burgundy, but rather create alluring, vineyard specific, age-worthy wines revealing the beautiful terroir of California. There is minimal intervention, judicious use of sulfur, and never any additives. POE produces traditional Champagne method sparkling wines, rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a nouveau from Pinot Noir. Each wine is made in very limited quantities, and sold directly from the winery and to high-end restaurants around the country. One time per year POE opens its door at the nouveau release and celebration. We team up with a celebrated local Chef and prepare a meal for the local wine community and our customers. In keeping with the traditions of Beaujolais Nouveau, we set the date for sometime around the third week of November. Our Chardonnay comes from the Ferrington Vineyard , which was first planted in the late 1960s. It has a gentle south-facing slope, and has decomposed sandstone and clay soils with three to four feet of topsoil. Wineries sharing this site include William Selyem, Copain, Flowers, and Littorai. We ferment with native yeast in 30% new French oak, 70% neutral French oak. The wine is never stirred, and ages on its fine lees for 12 months before bottling. The Van der Kamp Vineyard lies at the very top of Sonoma Mountain, at a 1,400 foot elevation looking down on the town of Glen Ellen to the east and Bennett Valley to the northwest.
