to be thankful for. Having suc- cessfully hosted the District Gov-

ernor last Mon- day, I want to take this oppor- tunity to thank the entire club, community of Kasangati and Nangabo for having supported this special moment. We thank DG Sharmila Bhatt, Assistant Governor and district leadership that made it on that day. Having offi- cially launched the project in Nangabo, I challenge us all to work with partners and the community to ensure the health facility is constructed as planned. The Monday meeting was truly memorable and I warmly welcome our new members. th On Sunday 26 August 2018, the Rotary fraternity together with partners, friends and family con- verged at Independence ceremonial grounds for the 2018 annual cancer run. The event had over 25, 000 participants take part in the run that started and ended at the Kololo Independence ceremonial grounds. Participants were flagged off by Vice President of the Republic of Uganda Hon. Edward Ssekandi and District Govenor Sharmila Bhatt. Key government officials like Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, Hon. Henry Okello Oryem and Hon. DG Sharmila, Pres. Edward, IPDG Ken, AG Julie and Rotarians Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi participated too. Ambas- at the 2018 cancer run sadors like Amb. Deborah Ruth Malac were in attendance. All participants either took on a 5km, 10km or 21km race, this attracted interactors, cor- porates and Rotarians. This years cancer run took place in 33 different towns including Masaka, Mbale and Mukono. This activity raised over 700 million shillings and this will be used to procure linear accelerators and bunker. This effort will ease cancer patients ac- cessing the most modern cancer treatment at Hospital. Rtn. Kisitu and PP. The linear accelerator is used to treat all parts/organs of the body. It delivers high-energy x-rays or electrons to the region of the patient's tumor. Call to action: participants were urged to support the campaign and commended for making time to run in effort to fight cancer.
