Aurora Girl Scouts East Aurora Village Scavenger Hunt Created by Girl Scout Troop 30404 Things you need to bring with you 1) Bring a notebook and pen 2) Bring a canned good or personal hygiene product 3) A cell phone with a camera or camera 4) If you have bottle/can returns you would like to donate to Aurora Girl Scouts It might be a good idea to split the hunt up to multiple days You might want to start on East Main Street by the expressway ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Western New Yorkers like to put the word “The” in front of the numbered expressways. What expressway crosses Main Street? 2) What Route number is Main Street known as? Main Street has been known by the other names as well, do you know any of them? Hint: Look at the white road signs. 3) What large gray building on Main St. shares a name of a large northern animal? Hint: It is a lodge/club. 4) According to local lore, 762 Main Street was said to have been a station on the Underground Railroad. What color is the house today? 5) Sinking Ponds Sanctuary sign says “Bread is bad for fill in the blank? While you’re at Sinking Ponds go for a fun walk and enjoy the time outside. 6) Twenty-six bridges sank at sinking ponds. Why did they sink? Hint: You might need to look it up or just look at the answer sheet. 7) What are the colors of the playground at Warren Park? Fact: Vidler’s was opened in 1930, some people thought it wouldn’t last because it was opened during the Great Depression. It was called “The Fair” until the Vidler family renamed it in 1946. 16) What is the name of the mechanical horse that you can ride at Vidler’s? Hint: It is by the penny candy. You might need to ask someone. 17) Millard Fillmore’s house was originally located next to where the Aurora Theatre is located today. What law firm is in located at 681 Main Street now? It is almost the exact location where Millard Fillmore’s home was located. 18) What are the neon colors on the Aurora Theatre Marquee? You might see different colors at night than what you see in daylight. 19) What is on the bench in front of the Aurora Theatre? Take a picture of yourself on the bench. 20) Who painted the murals inside the Aurora Theatre? Note: Walk into the theatre and look at the murals. 21) What is a Spot Of TEE? What does it sell? Schelle, was the third and Margaret Evan Price was the fourth. In the 1960’s, Fisher-Price bought the rights to The Muppets. The founders of Fisher-Price picked East Aurora as the company’s headquarters because it was close to Buffalo. 48) Do you know the original location of Fisher-Price?
