Who we are and how we started Cleeve Racing morphed out of a private members service and launched commercially in May 2011. Since that time they have booked a profit every season and become one of the UK’s best known services. What our members get A high-quality form based service covering every class 2 race and above run during the season. A selective service with members receiving 5-6 selections a week with staking advice. The service includes full coverage of all the major Festivals, Ante post bets and our Notebook horses sent out every week. The science and the strategy… We use a 12-stage algorithm that rates every runner in the field which determines the betting shape of the race. This is combined with in-depth form analysis to produce selections that offer good value. Transparent results This probably sounds too good to be true, but we are open, honest and transparent with our results. Unlike some services we publish every bet we place, not just our winners. It’s the only way our members can develop trust in our integrity and the method behind our approach to generating long term, consistent profits. Why not try out the Cleeve service… only £10 for a month’s trial Click here to sign up Copyright of Cleeve Racing Ltd. 2018 Introduction Hello and welcome to our annual Flat Season 10 to Follow guide. We decided this year to wait a wile after the season start to check that all the horses on the list were well and this has avoided to casualties from the original list in Ballet Concerto (dead) and Harbour Law (long term injury). We have tried to stay away from the like Cracksman, Enable, Saxon Warrior and Clemmie as they are pretty obvious any way and likely to be over bet when they run due to their popularity with the punters. There are some horses that have to improve but have shown they have the potential to do so. There is a long-range St Leger hope, a contender for the Oaks and several Royal Ascot hopefuls. There are also a couple that we don’t expect to see later until later in the year, so hopefully the list will continue to bear fruit all season long Obviously, you need to make sure each horse is racing under its optimal conditions before deciding whether to or not to have a bet, but these lists are more about a bit of fun and interest rather than serious betting tools. But why not set up a tracker in ATR or Geegeez or Sporting Life and add all 10, it will be an interesting process for you to follow their development through the season, and it will add a different dimension to your punting knowledge and who knows, you might just make a few quid… Enjoy! Best wishes for the season, The Cleeve Team Copyright of Cleeve Racing Ltd. 2018 Le Brivido • 4yo • Trainer:- A Fabre • Owner:- HRH Prince Faisal Bin Khaled/Mrs Magnier • Form:- 5 Runs 3 Wins 1 Place 1 Le Brivido won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and is one to follow over 7f and a mile. He picked up a slight injury that day and connections decided to give him the rest of the season off. Coolmore subsequently bought a 50% stake in the horse which is obviously a big vote of confidence. He reappeared at Newmarket in the Group 3 Abernant Stakes over 6 furlongs where to my eyes he was a ludicrously short price at 6/5. He was running over a sharper distance than his best and the stable were going through a very flat patch, plus he was up against a pretty deep field including last year’s winner Brando. Commentators noted that he was edgy and on his toes in the paddock and when they broke from the stalls he was far too keen for the first couple of furlongs. Pierre-Charles Boudot managed to settle him back in the field, but he could never quite get back on terms with the leaders, he was only beaten about 2 lengths and his jockey never picked up his stick. So, on the face of it he disappointed that day but I am putting a line through that and he will be of plenty of interest come Royal Ascot where he has an entry for the Group 1 Queen Anne for which he is currently quoted as the 7/1 favourite. Race Type: Group 1 Best Trip: 7 Furlongs to a Mile Preferred Ground: Has won on Good and Good to firm Copyright of Cleeve Racing Ltd. 2018 Wild Illusion 1 • 3yo • Trainer:- Charlie Appleby • Owner:- Godolphin • Form:- 4 Runs 2 Wins 1 Place Wild Illusion is a last-minute sub for the ill-fated Ballet Concerto who I was really looking forward to seeing but he suffered a fatal injury pre- season on the gallops. Wild Illusion is by Godolphin’s flagship sire Dubawi. She was supplemented for the Prix Marcel Boussac at Chantilly on Arc Day where and despite being unfancied she stayed on strongly for an impressive victory in over the seven furlongs. Her trainer Charlie Appleby said after the race she is relentless and although she would be aimed at the 1,000 Guineas the Oaks is foremost in his mind. She duly ran a fine race in the first fillies classic when she finished 4th to shock 66/1 winner Billesdon Brook, heavily backed in from an overnight 11/1 to half those odds she raced on the wide outside which was probably not ideal. She came under pressure at the 3 furlong pole but stayed on really well for James Doyle and although she had 3rd place snatched from her in the shadow of the post she was beaten less than 2 lengths. This bodes well for a step up in trip and she is a best priced 10/1 behind John Gosden’s unbeaten Pretty Polly winner; Lah Ti Dar who is around 3/1 chance. At the odds she looks a bit of an each way steal and it would be no surprise to me at all if she were to come victorious. Race Type: Group 1 Best Trip: 1 Mile Preferred Ground: Won on ground from Good to Firm to Soft Copyright of Cleeve Racing Ltd. 2018 Sioux Nation 1 • 3yo • Trainer:- AP O’Brien • Owner:- Michael Tabor & Derrick Smith & Mrs John Magnier • Form:- 9 Runs 4 Wins 2 Place There seems to be quite a simple key to Sioux Nation he has to have ground with firm in the description to show anywhere near his best form. He won the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes over 5 furlongs at Royal Ascot at a big price, and then followed up in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh where he was quite a cosy half-length winner from Beckford. On the face of it he has since been quite disappointing twice at Newmarket in the Middle Park and at Navan on his reappearance in a listed event. To put both those efforts in a broader context they were both run on softish ground, at Newmarket he was never really put in the race as his chance was gone at the furlong pole, both U. S. Navy and Beckford finished in front of him and they had been comfortably dismissed on quicker ground. At Navan he was giving weight to the whole field and running over a trip on the sharp side for a seasonal debut. Ryan Moore never put him in the race and he trailed the field for most of it before running on quite well under hands and heels. He was notably easy in the market on both occasions. I fully expect to see a very different beast at Royal Ascot where the ground could be lightning fast, he is entered in everything: the 1 mile St James Palace Stakes, the 6 furlong Commonwealth Cup and the 5 furlong Kings Stand stakes…. The latter would seem to be his more natural target so if he lines up elsewhere take note! Race Type: Group 1-3 Best Trip: 6 furlongs Preferred Ground: Good to Firm Copyright of Cleeve Racing Ltd. 2018 Wells Farhh Go • 3yo • Trainer:- Tim Easterby • Owner:- S A Healy and Partner • Form:- 3 Runs 2 Wins 1 The well named Wells Farhh Go is a bit of a dark one and although maybe not quite Group 1 class he is undoubtedly a horse of potential and given his less fashionable connections he will always go off at a value price. Unbeaten as a 2 year old he won at Sp’s of 16/1 and 10/1; the latter in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York’s Ebor Meeting. He was then put away for the season and looked as though there was plenty of improvement to come as he strengthened up. His shrewd connections definitely think they have something special as they do not tilt at windmills, so it was notable that threw him in at the deep end for his seasonal reappearance in the Group 2 Dante Stakes. He saw far too much daylight from his draw as he was kept out wide by a tightly packed field, to further add to his problems he pulled very hard for the first 3 furlongs before David Allen could get him to drop the bit.
