I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Airmen Medical Readiness Optimization (AMRO)

LtCol Keith Deardorff, FNP, AMRO Team Lead

I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Airmen Medical Readiness Optimization (AMRO)

BLUF: New PCM assignments for all AD personnel with primary emphasis on increasing medical readiness to 95% across the AF.

SITUATION: On 1 October 2019, the 10 MDG began implementing the new AF-wide initiative called the Airmen Medical Readiness Optimization (AMRO) program.

I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Airmen Medical Readiness Optimization (AMRO)

BACKGROUND: In February 2018, the then Defense Secretary Jim Mattis announced a new policy to increase deployability among service members throughout the DoD. This policy has been popularly and unofficially dubbed as the “Deploy or Get Out” policy, and it is not limited to medical aspects of deployability. In response to this DoD policy, the Air Force Medical Support Agency (now called the Air Force Medical Readiness Agency or AFMRA) developed called the Airman Medical Readiness Optimization (AMRO) program. The goal of this new program is to “optimally manage Airmen with mobility restrictions due to medical and/or mental health condition(s)” and “get the member back to mobility status as soon as possible”.

I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Airmen Medical Readiness Optimization (AMRO)

ASSESSMENT: At USAFA, a new primary care teams (PCT) was established to care for all AD patients. The PCT will meet on a regular basis to discuss active duty members that are on mobility restrictions (MR). On 1 October 2019, the 10 MDG implemented new PCT. The PCM team includes: • LtCol Keith Deardorff, FNP (Team lead) • Maj. (Dr.) Brian Bentele, DO • Capt. Brooke Ryan, PA AD members enrolled with Internal Medicine and Flight Medicine will still be followed by these clinics.

I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Airmen Medical Readiness Optimization (AMRO)

RECOMMENDATION: No action is necessary on your part. If you have not already done so it is recommended that you sign up for Tricare Online Secure Messaging for improved communication.

FYI: when the PCT reaches out to AD members regarding profiles it is imperative that you reply. Failure to reply to messages by phone, email (no sensitive information), or secure message will result in notification to unit Commander/First Sergeant.
