Atherstone Lodge ATHERSTONE LODGE Atherstone on Stour Stratford upon Avon Warwickshire CV37 8NB Atherstone Lodge, an end terraced cottage, which was part of a traditional Warwickshire Barn, originally converted in the 1970s. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION Atherstone on Stour is a characteristic Warwickshire village within easy reach of Stratford-upon-Avon (3 miles). In addition, a good road network ensures ease of access to many important centres including Shipston-on-Stour, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Cheltenham and Oxford. Main line train services run from Moreton in Marsh and Leamington Spa, and the motorway network with the M5, M6 and M42 linking to the M40 motorway enables fast travel throughout the Midlands conurbation and to London and the South. The National Exhibition Centre, the National Agricultural Centre and Birmingham International Airport and Station are all located within easy travelling distance.     KNIGH'ILOW HUNDRED KENILWORTH DIVISION. 741 The NORTH WARWICKSHIRE HUNT has been established mainly through the exertion of the Right Hon. Lord Leigh, and other noblemen and gentlemen in the vicinity of Leamington. It com­ prises a large pack of hounds, and is supported by subscriptions. The kennels have been erected about 1 mile from Leamington on the Kenilworth road. Another pack of hounds is kept at Atherstone, but the meets do not take place near to Leamington, in consequence of which railway conveniences are made during the season. FISHING and BOATING. Good pike fishing may be had in the River Learn and Avon, and boats may be hired at the Mill, and at the bridge at Emscote. The scenery along the banks of the rivers is very picturesque, and an hour's rowing will well repay the lover of nature. The WARNEFORD HOSPITAL. In 1825 an hospital was founded in Regent-street. Being confined 'in its situation, and too small for the number of patients, at the annual general meeting, in April, 1831, the propriety of erecting a new one having been considered, a sub­ scription was entered into for that purpose, which, in about twelve months, exceeded the sum of £2,500, including the handsome donation of £1,500 and a further sum of 1000 guineas by the Rev. Dr. Warneford, Rector of Burton-on-the-Hill, Gloucestershire, and his sister, Miss Warneford. Thebenevolencethusmanifested, together with a grant of land, on the Radford road, by the Earl of Aylesford, was followed by an unanimous resolution that a new building should be erected on the site named, and in honour of the Rev.
