FOOTBALL: HOFSTRA TO RETIRE WAYNE CHREBET'S JERSEY

Chrebet, who was a two-year starter and a four- year letterman at Hofstra from 1991 through 1994, recorded 150 receptions for 2,297 yards and 31 touchdowns during his career and graduated owning six University records and tying one NCAA I-AA mark. He tied 's I-AA record (since broken) for touchdown receptions in a game with five at Delaware in 1994 and set school marks for touchdowns in a game (5), most receiving yards in a game (245 vs. Delaware), most receiving yards in a season (1,200 in 1994), most receiving touchdowns in a season (16 in 1994) and most career receiving touchdowns (31). He received the Iron Mike Award as a senior as the team's Most Valuable Player.

HEMPSTEAD, New York - Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz and Pride Director of Athletics Harry Royle today announced that the University will retire the football jersey number 3 in honor of former Flying Dutchmen star and current standout Wayne Chrebet at halftime ceremonies of Hofstra's October 12th Homecoming Game against the College of William & Mary at James M. Shuart Stadium. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
