Located in majestic Dutchess County, it is bordered to the west by the Hudson River, to the east by Connecticut and to the north and south by Columbia and Putnam Counties, respectively. It is a town steeped in history, culture, and natural beauty. Dutchess was one of the original ten counties in New York formed in 1683. It was at this time when two New York City merchants named Francis Rombout and Gulian Verplanck bought 85,000 acres in the county from the Wappinger Indians. This land was rich in beaver, had fertile plains and a stream flowing into the Hudson River that provided food as well water-borne transportation. The intrigue and charm of more than three centuries of New York history are captured forever in Hopewell Junction and the surrounding area. You can tour the Van Wyck Homestead Museum, visit the birth place of Franklin Delano Roosevelt or stroll through sunny meadows and formal gardens surrounding the elegant Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site, overlooking the legendary beauty of the Hudson River. History and gracious homes are only part of this beautiful area. There are also a number of cultural and recreational opportunities to take part in. At your doorstep, the Dutchess County Trail is a convenient place to walk, run, or bicycle. You can grab your clubs and play a round at one of the areas challenging golf courses, hike on the scenic Appalachian Trail, or attend a minor league baseball game at Dutchess Stadium. Don’t miss an opportunity to take in a Broadway show at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, or enjoy a performance at the outdoor amphitheater at Vassar College. In all, whether it’s a summer fair or a winter carnival, at Hopewell Glen you will enjoy the prestige, convenience, and renowned beauty of Hopewell Junction and Dutchess County. 2 SCHOOLS PRIVATE PAROCHIAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS SCHOOLS SCHOOLS ELEMENTARY ELEMENTARY ELEMENTARY (Grades K-12) (Grades K-8) Gayhead Elementary Randolph School St. Columba School 15 Entry Road 2467 Route 9D 849 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Wappingers, NY 12590 Hopewell Jct., NY 12533 (845) 227-1756 (845) 297-5600 (845) 227-7777 1.6 miles 7.2 miles 0.3 miles MIDDLE MIDDLE (Grades 6-12) Van Wyck Junior High Oakwood Friends Schools 6 Hillside Lake Road 22 Spackenkill Road Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845) 227-1700 (845) 462-4200 2.2 miles 11.5 miles HIGH SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL Poughkeepsie Day School (Grades 9-12) John Jay High School (Grades K-12) Our Lady Of Lourdes 2012 Route 52 20 Boardman Road 131 Boardman Road Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845) 897-6700 (845) 462-7600 (845) 463-0400 4.2 miles 9.9 miles 9.5 miles DAY CARE AND PRE-SCHOOL Young Hearts Day Care Cinnamon Tree Day Care 535 Old Hopewell Road 2493 Route 52 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 (845) 221-3434 (845) 223-3741 2.1 miles 2.7 miles Tots N Us Little Angels Day Nursery 2287 Route 52 224 All Angels Hill Road Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Wappinger Falls, NY 12590 (845) 227-9225 (845) 297-4228 3.5 miles 4.4 miles 3 COLLEGES COMMUNITY COLLEGE STATE PRIVATE Dutchess Community College State University of New York Marist College 53 Pendell Road at New Paltz 3399 North Road Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 75 South Manheim Blvd. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845) 431-8000 New Paltz, NY 12569 (845) 575- 3000 10.7 miles (845) 257-2900 16.0 miles 23.9 miles Vassar College 124 Raymond Ave Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 10.1 miles LIBRARY East Fishkill Community Library 348 Rt. 376 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 (845) 221-9943 0.9 miles MEDICAL FACILITIES HOSPITALS Vassar Brothers Hospital 45 Reade Place Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845) 454- 8500 13 miles St. Francis Hospital 243 North Road Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845) 483- 5000 13.9 miles MEDICAL CENTERS Health Quest Immediate Care Center (HealthQuicc) 1530 Route 9 Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 (845) 297-2511 5.1 miles 4 WORSHIP CATHOLIC HINDU JEWISH St. Columba Church Hindu Samaj Congregation Schomre Israel 835 Route 82 3 Brown Road Orthodox Synagogue Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 18 Parker Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845) 454-2890 St. Dennis Church METHODIST Temple Beth-El 602 Beekman Road Wappingers Falls United Methodist 118 Grand Ave. Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Church Poughkeepsie, NY 9 South Meiser Ave (845) 454-0570 Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 PRESBYTERIAN BAPTIST First Presbyterian Church Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 2658 South Avenue 2611 South Avenue Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 (845) 297-6188 5 SHOPPING NEIGHBORHOOD SHOPPING CENTERS CONVENIENCE STORES Unity Plaza Stewarts Shops 565 State Route 82 860 Route 376 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 (845) 227-2778 Approximately 5 minutes from Hopewell Glen. • Freshwater Fishing: a Driver for Ecotourism
New York FRESHWATER April 2019 FISHINGDigest Fishing: A Sport For Everyone NY Fishing 101 page 10 A Female's Guide to Fishing page 30 A summary of 2019–2020 regulations and useful information for New York anglers www.dec.ny.gov Message from the Governor Freshwater Fishing: A Driver for Ecotourism New York State is committed to increasing and supporting a wide array of ecotourism initiatives, including freshwater fishing. Our approach is simple—we are strengthening our commitment to protect New York State’s vast natural resources while seeking compelling ways for people to enjoy the great outdoors in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. The result is sustainable economic activity based on a sincere appreciation of our state’s natural resources and the values they provide. We invite New Yorkers and visitors alike to enjoy our high-quality water resources. New York is blessed with fisheries resources across the state. Every day, we manage and protect these fisheries with an eye to the future. To date, New York has made substantial investments in our fishing access sites to ensure that boaters and anglers have safe and well-maintained parking areas, access points, and boat launch sites. In addition, we are currently investing an additional $3.2 million in waterway access in 2019, including: • New or renovated boat launch sites on Cayuga, Oneida, and Otisco lakes • Upgrades to existing launch sites on Cranberry Lake, Delaware River, Lake Placid, Lake Champlain, Lake Ontario, Chautauqua Lake and Fourth Lake. New York continues to improve and modernize our fish hatcheries. As Governor, I have committed $17 million to hatchery improvements.

NEW YORK Freshwater FISHING2013–14 OFFICIAL REGULATIONS GUIDE VL O UME 6, ISSUE No. 1, OCTOBER 2013 Fly Fishing the Catskills New York State Department of Environmental Conservation www.dec.ny.gov Most regulations are in effect October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014 MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR New York’s Open for Hunting and Fishing Welcome to another great freshwater fishing season in New York, home to an extraor- dinary variety of waterbodies and diverse fisheries. From the historic Hudson River to the majestic Great Lakes, and with hundreds of lakes and thousands of miles of streams from the Adirondacks to the Fingers Lakes, New York offers excitement and challenges for anglers that cannot be beat! The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society selected five of our waters – Cayuga Lake, Oneida Lake, Lake Champlain, Thousand Islands/St. Lawrence River and Lake Erie for their list of the Top 100 Bass Waters of 2013, with the last two listed in the top 20. This year’s guide is focused on trout fishing in the Catskills, also a nationally renowned destination for trout anglers. We continue our efforts to make New York, which is already ranked 2nd in the United States for recreational fishing economic impact, even more attractive as a tourism destination. My “New York Open for Fishing and Hunting” initiative will simplify the purchase of sporting licenses in 2014 and, most importantly, reduce fees. In addition, we will spend more than $4 million to develop new boat launches and fishing access sites so we can expand opportunities for anglers. Over the past three years New York invested $2.5 million in the development of new boat launching facilities on Cuba Lake in Allegany County, the Upper Hudson River in Saratoga County, Lake Champlain in the City of Plattsburgh, and two new facilities on Lake Ontario - Point Peninsula Isthmus and Three Mile Bay, both in Jefferson County.
