ATTACHMENT 3 2020 BIOGRAPHIES Officers Alana Gabrielson – Board Chair - Alana Gabrielson has worked in public accounting since 1999 and obtained her CPA license in February 2005. She is a graduate of California State University, Fresno, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Alana moved to the central valley as a child from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After graduation from Fresno State, Alana accepted a job in the Bay Area with KPMG, LLP. In pursuit of a better work life balance, she later returned to Fresno with her husband.

At Bean Hunt Harris and Company, Alana focuses on assisting clients with tax compliance, tax audits/collection issues and Bankruptcy issues. Alana holds professional membership with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), and the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors (AIRA). When not at work, Alana enjoys spending time with her family, cheering her two boys on at their sporting events, camping, cooking and listening to her husband perform percussion with many of California’s orchestras.

Gayle Yraceburu – 1st Vice President - Gayle Yraceburu has been working with children most of her life, having been a teacher in various locations for pre-school children through high school, and taught Child Development in college. Full and part time employment in education however has only been a part of her work with children, as volunteerism has also been woven throughout. Gayle served in volunteer capacities for her three daughters’ educational pursuits, most recently serving the marching band and color guard programs in three different high schools as Manager, Fundraising Chair, Hospitality Chair, and Marching Band Competition Chair to name a few. Gayle has also volunteered at and chaired church events, Junior League, and P.E.O in both Fresno and Bakersfield, and currently volunteers with Imbue Winterguard, a college age competitive color guard based in Modesto. Moving often with her husband’s career has allowed Gayle to be a part of several communities in different capacities, and helping her daughters connect and flourish in these new places has been her primary pursuit. Gayle has a BS in Ag Business and MA in Education, Early Childhood Emphasis, as well as Multiple Subjects and Early Childhood Specialist Teaching Credentials, all from Fresno State. She currently lives in Bakersfield. Gayle is currently completing her doctoral degree.

Michael Alexander – 2nd Vice President – Michael Alexander served Fresno County as the President/Chief Executive Officer of the United Way of Fresno/Madera Counties for over four years. He provided strategic direction, collaborative and innovative leadership focusing on maximizing resource development and community impact while creating and building awareness of the United Way’s role in the community. Prior to Michael’s position with the United Way of Fresno, he was a health care consultant to Gehrson Lehman Group where he implemented sales and marketing best practices in California and Colorado by designing and implementing electronic medical records in health care organizations. This resulted in improving the cost structure in medical centers to meet current demands of payers.

From 1972 -2007 Michael worked with Kaiser Permanente Health Plan and Hospitals, Inc. in Oakland, California. He held several positions during his tenure with Kaiser including Medical Office Administrator, Director of Marketing and Enrollment, Manager of Finance and Administration, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President/Area Manager/CEO for medical centers from Denver to Fresno and from 2004-2006 he was the Senior Vice President/Area Manager/CEO of the Tertiary Medical Center in San Francisco. Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Morningside College, Sioux City, IA and his Executive Management degree from Stanford University Business School, Stanford, CA. He has served on several Boards including the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, National Kidney Foundation of Northern California, Larkin Street Youth Services, Boy Scouts, United Way, Fresno Chamber of Commerce, Kempe Children’s Foundation and Governor’s Council for Rural Health.

Michael Ossanna - Treasurer – Michael Ossanna is currently Vice President of Commercial and Agricultural Lending for United Security Bank, a position he has held for the past two years. Michael has an extensive background in business banking, having previously served as Vice President of Commercial and Agricultural Lending at Fresno First Bank, as a Business Relationship Manager at Wells Fargo, and as a Business Relationship Manager with JPMorgan Chase. He is a graduate of the University of California's bioengineering and biomedical engineering programs and has a strong passion for engaging youth in STEM.

Carolyn Pierce – Secretary – From a Work-Study Peer Counselor in college to the President of Heald College, Carolyn Pierce has continued to spend her career helping others attain their educational goals. As President of Heald College, the Fresno Campus became the largest and most financially successful campus for Heald College for many years. Under her leadership, the campus won many top awards for student satisfaction, employee satisfaction, low employee turnover, compliance and audit scores. In addition, the College was awarded ’s People Choice Award winner for eight consecutive years.

Carolyn is an entrepreneur at heart as well, having stared her own Facelogic Spa business in 2007. Success followed her in this endeavor as she also won several awards from the Franchisor for membership development and sales. Her business was also recognized by the Fresno Bee’s People’s Choice Awards. Community partnership and participation has been an important mission for Carolyn. She has served in Rotary for 17 years, as well as serving on the boards of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, the Golden Valley Girl Scouts prior to its merger, the Better Business Bureau, the Adult Education Task Force, Hands on Central California, and the Fresno Ski Club. Carolyn also enjoys volunteering at her church greeting and teaching at Vacation Bible School, as well as sporting events like the California Classic Weekend, the Jingle Bell Run, the Support Blue run, as well as other events. In 1995, Carolyn was named one of Fresno’s Top Ten Business Women, and in 2007, she was named Clovis Chamber Business Person of the Year.

Being in a military, family afforded Carolyn an opportunity to live in many places, but she considers Fresno her home. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business from UCLA and her MBA from University of Redlands. Her peers consider Carolyn to be a strong marketing and communications specialists along with possessing great leadership, sales, staff development and public speaking

skills. In her spare time she enjoys her dog Kramer, traveling in her RV, snow skiing and supporting her favorite non-profit fundraisers including Girl Scouts of Central California South.

At Large Members David Gilmore, Esq. - David Gilmore practices as a trial and appellate attorney specializing in disputes related to real property, including condemnation, construction, quiet title, landlord-tenant and related issues, commercial/business disputes, including corporate and partnership disputes, contract issues, warranty claims, products liability claims and similar disputes and estates and trusts. He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelors of Art sand Economics and then received his Law degree from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1982. Mr. Gilmore is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in the Eastern, Central, Southern and Northern Districts of California and the District of Arizona, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Fresno County Bar Association, Association of Business Trial Lawyers and Federal Bar Association.

Along with his busy professional schedule, David is involved in many community organizations including the Rotary Club of Fresno (President 2010-11), the Sequoia Council of the Boy Scouts of America (Vice President), High Sierra Volunteer Trail Crew (Board President), Fresno Choral Artists, Valley Public Television (former member Business Advisory Council), and the San Joaquin Ag Lenders Association. When he has spare time, he enjoys golf, the great outdoors, wine, singing and reading.

Komal Desai, M.D. – Dr. Komal Desai is a Board Certified Psychiatrist working at the Kern County Mental Health Outpatient Services, providing care to indigent patients in the Bakersfield community since July 2000. She earned her Medical Degree in India in 1992. After coming to USA, she finished her residency in psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York and then went on to do a fellowship in anxiety disorders at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

In Bakersfield, she has participated in numerous social, cultural, and humanitarian activities through her involvement in organizations such as Chinmaya Mission, India Association of San Joaquin Valley, and Hindu Temple of Kern County. She has served on various committees raising funds for charitable organizations like Ekal Vidyalaya, CORD (Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development) and SEWA Rural. Each of these organizations work towards uplifting and educating people in rural India. She also volunteers for the Relay for Life Bakersfield, Kern County Cancer Fund and Annual Sickle Cell Walk.

Dr. Desai is currently Chairperson for the Scholarship Committee and has been Member at large and Secretary for India Association of San Joaquin Valley. She served on the Board of Hindu Temple of Kern County and is a Board member for the Hina Patel Foundation for Sickle Cell disease.

Additionally, Dr. Desai’s daughter, Khushali, became a Gold Award Girl Scout in May 2018. Her project was approved in January 2018. Dr. Desai travelled with our Council to the National Girl Scout Convention held in Columbus, Ohio in October 2017 as her daughter, Khushali, served as a Girl Scout Delegate from our Council.

Heather Walker Janz - Heather has established a mental health clinic in Fresno called Janz Family Therapy Inc., which serves individuals and families referred by county programs, mental health crisis centers, MediCal insurance panels, and those self-referred. She has significant training working with trauma and uses trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy in her practice. At Janz Family Therapy Inc., Heather provides training, education, and supervision to associate therapists. Heather inspires her clients and fellow mental health professionals by modeling assertiveness and positive communication through advocacy. In previous years, she worked for a non-profit in the central valley providing community-based treatment to children, adults and families struggling with the complexities of mental health disorders and social stressors. Heather also has experience teaching parenting and anger management classes for the DAZ Foundation in , and gained training at the CSULA Psychology Clinic during her practicum. Heather's passion for working with families originally began when she worked as a recreation leader in after-school programs and saw that children's ability to learn, play and grow was affected by problems within families, trauma, lack of resources, medical and mental health conditions. Counseling and therapy services have allowed Heather to help these families in deeper ways to achieve the change they need to be healthy and successful. Serving the community and engaging with others has always been a part of Heather’s life, as she was a Girl Scout and student government leader in her youth. Heather is Past-President of her local chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CSJV-CAMFT) and has also been involved in several movements regarding healthcare, minority, children, and women’s rights issues. Heather has a Bachelor of Arts degree from CSU Stanislaus, a Master of Science degree from CSU Los Angeles, and a license to practice Marriage and Family Therapy from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. She has served as a guest speaker at several learning institutions including Fresno City College, Fresno Pacific University, CSU Programs, and conferences in the psychology field. Fabiola Ramirez – Fabiola Ramirez is a local news reporter for KSEE24 & CBS47 out of Fresno. She is known for reporting on wildfires across California, natural disasters and unfortunate events. She is very involved in her community and has made it her goal to support and inspire our youth. As a way to give back, she serves as a speaker at schools and events to encourage and motivate central valley students to recognize the value of higher education. Madelyn Janssen – Maddie Janssen is a Bakersfield native and proud former Girl Scout. She wakes up before dawn Monday through Friday to help Kern County viewers start their day as anchor on 17 News at Sunrise. Maddie is a graduate of Bakersfield High School and attained her BFA at Chapman University. After college, her first job in journalism took her to Montana. She spent two years there, learning the ropes of television news, before lucking out and snagging a job at her hometown NBC station, KGET, in 2009. Maddie moved back to Bakersfield and met her wonderful husband, Justin. They now have three handsome boys, Eli, Noah and Wyatt.

Raquel Vega - Raquel Vega is currently an Associate Producer at KGET, TV-17. A Bakersfield native, she attended Bakersfield High School prior to graduating from the University of California Davis with a bachelor’s degree in Communication in 2018. She has always enjoyed being involved in community organizations through volunteer work. Most recently, Raquel became a mentor for

Latina Leaders of Kern County, a program working to inspire high school girls to achieve their greatest potential.

She is looking forward to being a member of the Girl Scouts Central California South board to continue her mission to empower young women.

Robert Frausto - Robert Frausto is the Superintendent of the Kerman Unified School District. During his tenure in Kerman, he has been actively involved in the community and has served as the President of Kerman Kiwanis, President of Kerman Rotary and has served as the President of the Association of California School Administrators, Region 9, which covers Madera, Merced, Mariposa and Fresno Counties. He has served on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Central California South and as Vice President of CREATE for the Westside, a community based nonprofit organization. He also has served on the State Board for the California School Based Health Alliance.

Mr. Frausto earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from California State University, Fresno and Masters of Arts Degree from Fresno Pacific University. He holds a Pupil Personnel Services Credential, Administrative Credential and Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential. His teaching experience spans from the elementary grades through the college level. He started his career in education at Madera Unified School District where he taught for seven years at both the elementary and middle school levels. Mr. Frausto then spent 13 years with the Merced City Elementary School District. There he served as a middle and elementary school principal, the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and the Associate Superintendent.

Virna Santos – Fresno – Virna L. Santos is a partner at Santos Law Group that provides legal counsel in criminal defense, immigration, bankruptcy and employment discrimination matters. Prior to taking the position at the Santos Law Group, Virna was the Regional Director, Judicial Studies with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Prosecutorial Development, Training and Assistance in Washington DC. She also served as the Regional Director, Latin America and the Caribbean in the same position. Her goal was to develop interagency policies to address human rights and citizen security concerns throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. She represented the Department of Justice at interagency meetings to develop and monitor policy implementation programs. She has served as Senior Resident Legal Advisor for the U.S. Department of Justice to the U.S. Embassy Bogota, Colombia, was the Assistant United States Attorney, Eastern District of California, Judicial Law Clerk for the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and was the Deputy Attorney General, Public Rights Division, Environmental Section for the State of California, Department of Justice, Los Angeles and Oakland. Virna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California at Los Angeles and her Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School. In her “spare time” she has volunteered for many organizations including being the Chair of the Board for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and serving on the Community Medical Foundation Board of Trustees.

Opening The Annual Meeting and Adult Recognitions of the Girl Scouts of Central California South was called to order at 10:03 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in Visalia, CA at the Visalia Convention Center. Dr. Russel Statham, CEO welcomed and introduced staff, board of directors and board development committee members present and recognized Highest Award Girl Scouts present. Jennie Guadagno, Senior Director of Resource Development spoke about Planned Giving and encouraged anyone interested to stop by the table to learn more. This is a way we can help our council be sustainable for the next 100 years. Adult Recognitions Dr. Russel Statham, CEO recognized the Volunteer Recognitions Committee for all of their time reviewing the nominations.

Special Presentation The 2018 Top Two Cookie Sellers, Hannah and Briana from troop 3232 spoke about their experience as the Top Two Cookie Sellers. Board Chair Address Keith Pretzer, Board Chair, gave a presentation regarding the council. Lunch Juliette Gordon Low Society Jennie Guadagno pinned all those who signed up to be part of the Juliette Gordon Low Society. Opening of the Business Meeting A quorum was established at 12:04PM. 2nd Vice President, Virna Santos reported to the Board Chair, Keith Pretzer, a quorum was present. Approval of the Agenda Keith Pretzer, Board Chair, asked for a motion to accept the agenda as written. Michael Alexander, Board Member motioned to accept the agenda. Ashley Luna, Service Unit 626, seconded the motion. A vote taken and the motion was approved. Finance Report Alana Gabrielson, Board Treasurer, reviewed the FY2017/2018 finances. She reported that the auditors noted the “unqualified opinion” which is the highest ranking possible. She also reported all appropriate disclosures were properly reflected in the financial statements and footnotes. She went on to state that the financial statements conform to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. She went on to review key financial items such as the council’s assets, cash, cash equivalents, liabilities, long term debt, and accounts receivable. Dineen Gerard Larson, Service Unit 643 seconded the motion. The vote was taken and there was only one nay vote. The slate was approved by majority vote.

Installation and Reaffirmation The installation and reaffirmation of the Board and Board Development Committee was conducted by Mackenzie F. of Troop 2486. Closing Remarks Dr. Russel Statham, CEO presented Keith Pretzer with a special token of appreciation for serving as our board chair the last three (3) years. He also announced that GSUSA’s National Board has approved a reduced Lifetime Membership rate of $200 during the month of April for volunteers that have served for ten or more years. Adjournment Meeting was adjourned at 1:35PM.
