BLUE JACKETS NOTES OFF TO A QUICK START The Blue Jackets opened the 2017-18 season having won nine of their first 14 contests (9-4-1) with Columbus averaging 4.22 goals per game and 1.78 goals against in their nine victories (including SO goals). The 19 points is the most points recorded through the opening 14 games of a campaign in club history. Columbus (12) is one of six teams that currently has 12 or more skaters with at least five points on the campaign.

OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER The Jackets posted a season-high seven goals on Thursday at Florida. It was the fifth time the club has recorded five or more goals in a contest this season (5-0-0). The Jackets have posted seven or more goals in eight games since 2014-15, the second most occurrences in the NHL (Pittsburgh, 10). The club has recorded four or more goals in a game (including SO goals) eight times this season (6-1-1).

BACK-TO-BACKS Columbus plays its fourth of 17 back-to-back sets on Monday at New York and Tuesday vs. Nashville. The club (4-2-0) split its season- opening back-to-back vs. the NY Islanders and at Chicago and swept the second set on Oct. 13 vs. the NY Rangers and Oct. 14 at Minnesota before splitting the most recent back-to-back on Oct. 27 vs. Winnipeg and Oct. 28 at St. Louis. Last season, the Jackets went 22-10-6 in their 19 back-to-back sets, including 12-5-2 in the first game.

THE SEASON’S SECOND MONTH After setting franchise records for wins and points in the month of October with an 8-4-0 record, the Jackets will play 13 games in November with six home games and seven road contests. Columbus' longest homestand of the month is two games (twice) and the longest road trip is a three-game trip through Florida and New York to kick off the month. The Jackets will play in three back-to-back situations; Nov. 6-7, Nov. 10-11 and Nov. 27-28. The club plays seven games against the Atlantic Division, four contests vs. the Metropolitan and a game each against the Central and Pacific. Columbus had a record November in 2016-17, setting club records in wins and points in the month with 9-2-3 (21 points).

SHOOTING GALLERY The Blue Jackets enter tonight’s matchup with the Rangers having outshot their opponent in 11 of the first 14 games this season (Oct. 10 at Carolina, Oct. 28 at St. Louis and Nov. 4 at Tampa Bay). Columbus currently sits third in the NHL with 36.5 shots per game.

ON THE KILL The Blue Jackets are tied for seventh in the NHL in penalty kill percentage, having killed off 83.3 of their opponent’s opportunities. The club set a franchise record with 17-straight penalties killed off at home to start the season after killing the first penalty of the game on Oct. 30 against Boston (also record six full home games to start a campaign). Columbus has had to play shorthanded 36 times this season, second-T fewest in the league.

THE ROVERS Seth Jones has notched 3-8-11 and shares the team lead for points (10th-T among NHL defensemen) with Artemi Panarin (1-10-11) while Werenski is third-T with 4-5-9 (19th-T among league blueliners). Werenski currently leads Columbus and is third-T among NHL defensemen with a +9 rating while Jones ranks second on the club and sixth-T among league defensemen with a +8.

77 AND 11 LEADING THE CHARGE Josh Anderson (2-0-2) and Matt Calvert (0-2-2) both recorded their first multi-point games of the season on Thursday at Florida. The duo have each recorded eight points in the past 10 contests with Anderson recording 5-3-8 and Calvert adding 3-5-8.

FINNISH FORCE Markus Nutivaara recorded the first multi-point game of his career (0-2-2) on Monday against the Boston and followed up with another two-assist outing on Thursday against Florida. Through nine games this season, Nutivaara has tied his career high for assists in a season with five. The Oulu, native, who has notched five points in his past six games, has played the 14th most games (75) of players selected in the 2015 NHL Draft (189th overall) and the most of players selected after the top-37 picks.

WELCOME BACK, BOONE After missing the first seven games of the season with a middle-body injury, Boone Jenner has come on strong. Jenner recorded three points (1-2-3) for the third time in his career on Thursday night against Florida and has collected all five of his points while riding a three-game point streak (2-3-5). Jenner is averaging over 20 minutes in TOI over the past four contests.
