While Rekindling will now enjoy a well earned rest O=Brien has begun plotting a potential 2018 campaign. "He seems to have pulled up well, he's in good form here this morning," O'Brien told Racing.com at Werribee on Wednesday. "He'll have a little break and then I think he might come back to Europe next season for maybe a try at an Ascot Gold Cup or something like that in the summer, he's an exciting horse for next season.@ Lloyd Williams and his family were also on hand to pay homage to their latest Cup hero and he too wants to see Rekindling recharge for a while before thoughts turn to next year. Redzel wins the inaugural running of The Everest last month "You hope that he'll go forward, he's a good staying horse, but Racing And Sports he's been going since April and it's the second week of November now so we're going to send him up to Macedon Lodge and give him three or four weeks on the grass,@ said Prize Money Boost for the Everest Cont. Williams. AIt would be great to see him in the Gold Cup [at Royal AThe Everest has captured the attention of the racing world Ascot], it would be a good race for him but time will tell, that's a but most importantly it brought a new and younger audience to long way off." Royal Randwick,@ said Australian Turf Club Chairman, Laurie Macri. AWe will continue to make this race day a modern and dynamic event in the Sydney spring to attract even more first-time customers to racing,@ he added. A meeting of slot holders will be held later this month to receive their feedback and to discuss how the increased prize- money will be distributed and Racing NSW Chairman Russell Balding commented, AThese prize-money increases reward the loyalty and vision of the original slot holders who backed the concept. The Everest has already established itself on the racing calendar with its own personality and charisma.@

CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH FOR REKINDLING

Arrogate to Stand for $75K cont. from p1

"Our goal is always to provide the best value to our breeders,@ said Garrett O'Rourke, manager U.S. operations for Prince Khalid Abdullah=s operation. AWe will select the highest quality of mares to offer Arrogate the best chance to be as great a sire as he was a racehorse." Bred by Clearsky Farms, the $560,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase went on a run for the ages with Arrogate | Breeders= Cup/Eclipse Sportswire victories in the 2016 GI Travers S. prior to besting California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) in the GI Breeders= Cup Classic. The gray was the easy winner of the inaugural GI Pegasus World Cup last January, then overcame a world of trouble to defeat recent Gun Runner in the G1 Dubai World Cup. Campaigned by Three Chimneys and Winchell , Gun Runner took his only loss of the season at Meydan. Returned to the U.S., the slick chestnut colt won the GI Stephen Foster H., the GI Whitney S. and the GI Woodward S. over the summer and set Gun Runner | Breeders= Cup/Eclipse Sportswire a searching pace in the Classic en route to a 1 1/2-length victory. He sports a career record of 18-11-3-2 for earnings of $8,998,500. Gun Runner was flown to Kentucky and is currently available for inspection at Three Chimneys through Friday, Nov. 10. He will then ship to trainer Steve Asmussen=s barn at the Fair Grounds to begin preparations for the Pegasus.

For Royalty Tops KEENOV Day 2 cont. from p1

AToday was very solid again,@ Russell said. AI think there was one less million-dollar horse than last year with 10% less horses in the catalog...I think our expectations were achieved. We would have liked to have more horses in Book 1, obviously.@ Strong weanling trade continued Tuesday, including a Curlin half-brother to second-leading freshman sire Violence (Medaglia d=Oro) (Hip 365), who sold for $1 million to Andre Lynch. AI think [the weanling market] is strong at both ends,@ Russell said. AThe weanling-to-yearling pinhookers from 2016 to 2017 did very well, but I also think there is some good end-user energy as well.@ One of the higher-profile offerings in Book 1 was the last to go through the ring--the very well-related Galileo (Ire) mare Twirl (Ire) (hip 366A), who was consigned by John Sikura=s Hill >n= Dale Sales Agency on behalf of an undisclosed client and bought back for $3.1 million Wednesday. Click here for more on Twirl. AHe had to be sort of half coerced to put her in the sale,@ said Sikura. AHe=s got two beautiful foals out of her, and said, >If I got $3.2 million I would sell her, and if not I=m happy to keep her.= The Tapit [weanling] filly=s magnificent, it=s the best family in the world--it=s active, she=s carrying a filly [by Curlin]--so, he was willing to try the market, but he was comfortable to continue owning the mare if she didn=t make exactly what he wanted... If any of those foals run, then she was well kept. It=s his decision and he can afford it. She=s a lovely mare and they=re hard to replace. When you know the kind of foals the mare has and they=re on the farm, you feel very bullish about the future, then you=re more apt to be stronger in the ring.@ Book 2 of the November Sale begins Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Keeneland November cont. AShe=s a great physical, and physical is so important,@ Bandoroff said. AShe=s an incredible mare--she=s been bred to four different stallions and had stakes horses with four different stallions. One of the genetics guys was back there today and said it=s unheard of. They want to take DNA so they can figure it out. She=s special.@ WinStar purchased For Royalty as a 3-year-old for $87,000 at Keeneland November in 2010. AWinStar has a really great pedigree guy in John Prather,@ Bandoroff said when asked if he believes Bernardini is a good mating for the mare. AI=m sure it is [a good match], but it kind of looks like whoever they breed her to is a good mating.@ After yielding stakes-placed Back Flip (Super Denali Stud=s Craig and Holly Bandoroff Saver) on her Jon Siegel photo first mating, For Royalty hit a home run with >TDN Rising Star= and GI La Brea S. heroine Constellation (Bellamy Road). She produced the stakes-placed Upper Room (Harlan=s Holiday) in 2014 and recently achieved more success when her juvenile daughter Queen Mum (Paynter) ran second in Downs=s Oct. 29 Rags to Riches S. in just her second career start. AThe expression we use with the yearlings is that they >tick all the boxes,=@ Bandoroff said. AWell, she did, too. The other big thing is her age--she=s only 10 years old.@ Lyon confirmed that the mare=s age played a major role in making her a desirable offering and expressed some relief that they were able to add another exceptional producer to their broodmare band. Summer Wind snagged Belle Watling (Pulpit) (Hip 204), dam of GI Breeders= Cup Classic fourth War Story (Northern Afleet) and GSW & MGISP Land Over Sea (Bellamy Road), for $1.05 million earlier in Tuesday=s session--one day after going to $1.4 million for Weekend Whim (Distorted Humor) (Hip 1), dam of MGISW New Money Honey (Medaglia d=Oro). AWe=re going to have to go home and think it all over now,@ Lyon said of For Royalty. AShe was probably our top pick and we=re so excited about having her...The fact that she=s a relatively young mare and has multiple stakes horses and possibilities--you just don=t see that very often.@ --@BMassamTDN WE’VE GOT IT ALL THE NO.1 SOURCE OF AUSTRALIAN G1 WINS IN 2016-17
