Hockey India hosted the 35th edion of Champions Trophy in Bhubaneswar from December 6-14. While Germany was the winner, the Indian team fared well and was placed fourth in the Tournament. Players from the Indian squad were also recognised for their outstanding performance during the tournament. My congratulaons to P R Sreejesh for winning the Tata Steel Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, Akashdeep Singh for MCL Best Junior Player of the tournament, Sardar Singh for NALCO Fan's Choice and S V Sunil for Cairn India Most Energec Player awards. The team had won the Indo-Australia series in Perth earlier in November. The Indian Junior Women Hockey Team also played a six match series against New Zealand which was followed by the Senior Women team who were a tough compeon to Italy. India's Junior Men Team stood tall against Australia, Japan and New Zealand in Australia which is a great achievement. In its endeavour to produce and nurture young talent, Hockey India also recently announced the launch of its 'Online Academy Plaorm' to guide the young talent. The iniave is a comprehensive programme aimed at helping young aspirants to learn the new tricks, strategies and development in the game.     CULTURE HERITAGE Amia&i-Mexicon-Americans California's A.Jnjabi­ Mexican­ Americans Ethnic choices made by the descendants of Punjabi pioneers and their Mexican wives by Karen Leonard he end of British colonial rule in India and the birth of two new nations-India and Pakistan-was celebrated in California in T 1947 by immigrant men from India's Punjab province. Their wives and children celebrated with them. With few exceptions, these wives were of Mexican ancestry and their children were variously called "Mexican-Hindus," "half and halves," or sim­ ply, like their fathers, "Hindus," an American misno­ mer for people from India. In a photo taken during the 1947 celebrations in the northern California farm town of Yuba City, all the wives of the "Hindus" are of Mexican descent, save two Anglo women and one woman from India. There were celebrations in Yuba City in 1988, too; the Sikh Parade (November 6) and the Old-Timers' Reunion Christmas Dance (November 12). The object of the List is to present useful information about our villages. It was considered that in a predominantly rural country like Pakistan, reliable village statistics should be avaflable and it is hoped that the Village List will form the basis for the continued collection of such statistics. A summary table of the totals for each tehsil showing its area to the nearest square mile. and Its population and the number of houses to the nearest hundred is given on page I together with the page number on which each tehsil begins. The general village table, which has been compiled district-wise and arranged tehsil-wise, appears on page 3 et seq. Within each tehsil the Revenue Kanungo holqos are shown according to their order in the census records. The Village in which the Revenue Kanungo usually resides is printed in bold type at the beginning of each Kanungo holqa and the remaining Villages comprising the ha/qas, are shown thereunder in the order of their revenue hadbast numbers, which are given in column o. Rokhs (tree plantations) and other similar areas even where they are allotted separate revenue hadbast numbers have not been shown as they were not reported in the Charge and Household summaries.
