  • India & China Border Issue
1 UPSC Mains Content Builder Series Video 7 2 INDIA & CHINA BORDER ISSUE 3 Our Interests Diplomatic & Foreign relations. Security & Trade GS II - India and its neighborhood- relations. 4 Context The India-China witnessed tensions at border during April-May 2020, with incidents reported in at least four different locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Beginning early May, Chinese troops moved inside Indian territory with vehicles and equipment at several points along the LAC, including Pangong Tso, several points in Galwan Nalah area and Demchok in eastern ladakh and Naku La in Sikkim, PLA soldiers also blocked Indian patrols and pitched tents. There have been multiple rounds of talks at the level of local military commanders (Colonel- and Brigadier-level), and three rounds of talks at the level of the division commanders (Major General). 5 Last major Stand off – Doklam 2017 It erupted when India opposed China's attempt to extend a border road through a plateau known as Doklam in Bhutan and Donglang in China. The plateau, which lies at a junction between China, the north-eastern Indian state of Sikkim and Bhutan, is currently disputed between Beijing and Thimphu. India supports Bhutan's claim over it. India is concerned that if the road is completed, it will give China greater access to India's strategically vulnerable "chicken's neck", a 22km (14-mile) wide corridor that links the seven north- eastern states to the Indian mainland. 6 Chinas Acts and aggressions Although no shots have been fired, as the de facto border code dictates, but the soldiers have fought fiercely with rocks, wooden clubs and their hands in a handful of clashes.

  • ARMY DAY -2021-Salute the Soldier
EXCLUSIVE: WE HAD taken ON CHINA By R. Prasannan, Chief of Bureau, THE WEEK SALUTE THE JANUARY 2021 JANUARY SOLD ER CHINA CAN WE TAKE ON? editorial Learning from the Galwan Valley incident here are some lessons of history that we forget at our own peril. One of them is the famous saying attributed to the US Tpolitician William Clay: “There are no permanent enemies, and no permanent friends, only permanent interests.” In other words, to establish foreign relations or politics on the basis of emotional or personal factors is the height of foolishness. Yet, this is exactly what India’s recent China policy appeared to do. Afters years of rivalry, a few years ago China suddenly was accorded the status of India’s friend. China’s president Xi Jinping was seen being hugged by our Prime Minister and was invited to India as a special guest to flag waving Indians. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping met 18 times between 2014 and 2019. India also supported China at various international for a and voted for its favour. In April 2020, India and China celebrated 70 years of diplomatic ties - India being the first non-socialist country to have recognised China in 1950. President Xi Jinping issued a statement claiming the two countries have established a strategic and cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity, and are endeavouring to build an even closer partnership of development. India’s President Kovind declared the two sides have made considerable progress, especially in the last few years, in enhancing their bilateral engagement in a number of areas, including political, economic and people-to-people ties. The Chinese leadership had supposedly been turned around and now viewed India favourably.

This study is conducted through an exploration of the political rhetoric and political participation of a community of Yadavs in Mathura town, western Uttar Pradesh. The Yadavs were traditionally a low- to middle- ranking cluster of pastoral-peasant castes that have become a significant political force in Uttar Pradesh (and other northern states like Bihar) in the last thirty years. The analysis of Yadav political culture involves the historical exploration of varying local conceptions of caste, race, primordialism, socio-religious segmentation, factionalism, history/myth, politics and democracy. Throughout the thesis runs a concern with the elaboration of a theoretical framework which makes sense of the transformation of the caste system, and its interrelations with modem politics and Hinduism.
