Watt, Aaron Rodgers und Deshaun Watson uvm. erlitten Verletzungen, und Präsident Donald Trump nutzte jede Gelegenheit, um die Liga und ihre protestierenden Spieler anzugreifen. Hier nun die “Lowlights” der Season Die schlechteste Entscheidung eines Coaches während der Saison Der Buffalo Bills Headcoach Sean McDermott war wahrscheinlich der Einzige (auf diesem Planeten), der dachte, dass es klug sei, Tyrod Taylor für Nathan Peterman auf die Bank zu setzen. Die Katastrophe ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Nur wenige hätten vorhersehen können, wie schnell und spektakulär Peterman implodieren würde. Der Rookie warf binnen nur einer Hälfte fünf Interceptions. Wenn Andy Dalton die Saison der Bills nicht gerettet hätte, hätte McDermott’s Entscheidung einen weiteren Playoff-losen Januar bedeutet. Coach Gruden: “I don’t know, that’s a good question. I feel like a first-year head coach every time I come to this league meeting, honestly, because your team is always different, your staff is never the same and you always have to adapt. I’m sure these guys are going through a lot emotionally right now, but I couldn’t pinpoint one thing.” Q: Is there any advice you would give to a new head coach? Coach Gruden: “Just be yourself. Don’t get too far away from what got you there. I think some guys are great quarterback guys, they get a head coaching job and maybe they delegate the quarterbacks to somebody. If you’re a great defensive coach, keep calling the defense. That’s my recommendation. Don’t get too far away from the things that got you there.” Q: How would you assess your first year? Coach Gruden: “4-12. I’m not going to say anything else. Wasn’t very good, but it was a necessary year. We had to make some tough decisions, and I do like the work ethic we have in place.
